Former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata passes away: RBI limits UPI Light Wallet to ₹ 5000, no change in interest rates for the 10th consecutive time

Yesterday the big news was related to the demise of Honorary Chairman of Tata Group, Ratan Tata. Information about his demise was released late on Wednesday (October 9) night. He was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was suffering from age related diseases.

At the same time, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased the transaction limit on UPI Lite from ₹ 500 to ₹ 1000. With this, RBI has increased the limit of UPI Light Wallet from ₹ 2000 to ₹ 5000.

1. Ratan Tata dies at the age of 86: Breathed his last in a hospital in Mumbai, had said 2 days ago – I am fine, nothing to worry about.

Ratan Naval Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86. Information about his demise was released late on Wednesday (October 9) night. He was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was suffering from age related diseases.

On Monday also there was news of his being admitted to ICU. However, then he said that I am fine, there is nothing to worry about. In 2008, Ratan Tata received the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award. Before this, in 2000, he was also honored with Padma Bhushan.

2. RBI increased the limit of UPI Light Wallet to ₹ 5000: Earlier it was ₹ 2000, lookup facility will also be available in RTGS and NEFT.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased the transaction limit on UPI Lite from ₹500 to ₹1000. With this, RBI has increased the limit of UPI Light Wallet from ₹ 2000 to ₹ 5000.

At the same time, for feature phone users, RBI has increased the limit of UPI 123 from ₹ 5000 to ₹ 10,000. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das made this announcement while giving information about the decisions taken in the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.

3. No change in interest rates for the 10th consecutive time: That means loans will not be expensive, EMI will also not increase; RBI maintained repo rate at 6.5%

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not changed interest rates for the 10th consecutive time. RBI has kept the interest rates unchanged at 6.5%. That means the loan will not be expensive and your EMI will also not increase. RBI last raised rates by 0.25% to 6.5% in February 2023.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das gave information about the decisions taken in the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting going on from October 7 today, i.e. on Wednesday. This meeting takes place every two months. RBI had not changed interest rates in its earlier meeting held in August.

4. Sensex closed at 81,467 with a fall of 167 points: Nifty also fell by 31 points, BSE Small Cap gained 670 points.

Sensex today closed at 81,467 with a fall of 167 points on Wednesday (October 9). Nifty also fell by 31 points, it closed at the level of 24,981.

At the same time, BSE Small Cap rose 670 points and closed at the level of 56,110. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 17 rose and 13 declined. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 31 declined and 19 rose. There was a rise in all sectors except FMCG and Oil & Gas.

5. Hyundai India's IPO will open from October 15: Retail investors will be able to bid till October 17, minimum investment will be Rs 13720.

Hyundai India's initial public offer i.e. IPO will open on October 15. Investors will be able to bid for this issue till October 17. The company's shares will be listed in the market on October 22. The company has fixed its price band at Rs 1,865-1,960. For this a bid of at least Rs 13,720 will have to be made.

The company wants to raise Rs 27,870 crore through this IPO. This issue of Hyundai Motor India can become India's biggest IPO till date. Till now, this achievement is in the name of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), which had brought an IPO worth Rs 21,000 crore in 2022.
