Telecom company Bharti Airtel has made a profit of Rs 3,593 crore in the second quarter of financial year 2025. There has been an increase of 168% on annual basis. The company had made a profit of Rs 1,340 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Bharti Airtel's consolidated operational revenue increased 12% year-on-year to Rs 41,473 crore in the July-September quarter. The company's revenue in the same quarter a year ago was Rs 37,043 crore.
Shashwat Sharma became the new MD and CEO of the company.
There has also been a major change in the management of the company. Shashwat Sharma has been made the new MD and CEO of the company. His tenure on this post will be effective from January 1, 2026. Shashwat is currently working on the post of Chief Operation Officer (COO) in the company.
Shashwat has been appointed to these posts in place of the current MD and CEO Gopal Vittal. Gopal Vittal has been made the executive vice chairman of the company. His tenure on this post will also be effective from January 1, 2026. Gopal Vittal was working as MD and CEO of the company for the last 12 years. Sunil Bharti Mittal is the chairman of the company.
What is standalone and consolidated?
The results of companies come in two parts – standalone and consolidated. Standalone shows the financial performance of only one unit. Whereas, in the consolidated financial report, the entire company is reported.
Airtel shares rose 80% this year
Airtel shares today closed at Rs 1,665 with a decline of 0.057%. The company's shares have given a return of 24.96% in 6 months and 80% in one year. Airtel shares have risen 64.36% this year i.e. from January 1, 2024 till now. The market-cap of the company is Rs 9.97 lakh crore.
Bharti Airtel's ARPU was Rs 233
Bharti Airtel's 'average revenue per user' (ARPU) increased by 14.7% to Rs 233 during the July-September quarter. It was Rs 203 in the same quarter of the last financial year.
Bharti Airtel was started in 1995
The Government of India first started distributing licenses for mobile services in 1992. Company founder Sunil Mittal understood this opportunity and in collaboration with French company Vivendi acquired licenses for Delhi and surrounding areas. In 1995, Mittal formed Bharti Cellular Limited to offer cellular services and started operating under the Airtel brand.
