Sensex is trading at 79,620 today, down over 450 points on the last business day of the week on October 25. The Nifty is also down by 100 points, trading at 24,250.
Out of 30 stocks in Sensex, 21 are rising and 9 are falling. Out of 50 stocks in Nifty, 30 are rising and 20 are falling. NSE's auto, metal and banking sectors are trading lower.
Mixed business in Asian markets today
- In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei is down 0.97%. While Korea's Kospi and China's Shanghai Composite are trading with an increase of 0.42%.
- On October 24, the US Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.33% to 42,374 and the S&P 500 rose 0.21% to 5,809. The Nasdaq rose 0.76% to 18,415.
- Foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹5,062.45 crore on October 24, according to NSE data. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹3,620.47 crore.
Afcons Infrastructure IPO opens
The initial public offering (IPO) of Afcons Infrastructure Limited, a company operating in the transport, construction, oil and gas sector, has opened today. Investors can bid for the issue till October 29. The company's shares will be listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) on October 4.
The stock market closed lower yesterday
Prior to this, yesterday i.e. on October 24, the stock market had seen its decline for the fourth consecutive day. The Sensex closed down 16 points at 80,065. The Nifty also fell by around 36 points to close at 24,399.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 19 rose and 11 declined. Banking and auto shares rose. FMCG and IT shares declined.
