Sensex falls over 200 points: Trading, IT and FMCG shares fall at 81,600

Today i.e. on 16th October, the stock market is showing a decrease. The Sensex is trading at 81,600, down over 200 points. Nifty is also trading down over 50 points at 25,000.

IT and FMCG stocks are witnessing a steep decline today. Metal and energy shares are up. Out of the 30 stocks of the Sensex, 18 have gained and 12 have lost.

Mixed business in the Asian market

  • The Asian market is seeing a boom today. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index is trading up 0.43% and China's Shanghai Composite Index is trading up 0.40%.
  • On October 15, the US Dow Jones fell 0.75% to 42,740 and the Nasdaq fell 1.01% to 18,315. The S&P 500 also closed down 0.76 at 5,815.
  • Foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹1,748 crore on October 15, according to NSE data. During this period Domestic Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹ crore.

Today is the second day of Hyundai India's IPO

Today is the second day of Hyundai India's IPO. Investors can bid for this issue till October 17. The shares of the company will be listed in the market on October 22. The company has fixed its price band at Rs 1,865-1,960. For this, a bid of at least 13,720 rupees has to be made.

Yesterday the market saw a decline

Earlier yesterday i.e. on 15th October, the stock market saw a decline. The Sensex closed down 152 points at 81,820. The Nifty also fell 70 points to close at 25,057.
