Growth: Online sales of gold-jewellery grew by more than 30 percent in the country

The prevalence of e-commerce segment in the country is continuously increasing. There has been a strong growth in the online segment of lifestyle, grocery, electronics gadgets for some time, along with the demand for fashion-beauty and gold-jewellery has also been increasing rapidly for the past one year or so. Gold-jewellery sales on e-commerce platform Amazon have seen strong growth of over 30 per cent, besides gold and diamond jewelery in the premium segment – with labgrown diamonds in high demand. The sale of precious jewelery has increased five-fold and Ahmedabad alone has recorded more than two-fold growth, said Amazon India Fashion and Beauty Director Zebakhan.

A year-on-year growth of 84% has been recorded in hallmarked gold jewelery carats. Customers can buy silver jewelery starting from Rs.2000 to Rs. Fine jewelery up to 40000 has seen the highest customer demand. In the last one year, consumers prefer 14 carat jewellery.

Gujarat holds an important place in the country for e-commerce companies. Garments have witnessed two and a half times growth during the festive season. Apart from metro cities, there has been strong growth from Tier 2 and 3 as well. Many people are also getting employment through e-commerce platform. It has also empowered local artisans, weavers and small businesses across Gujarat.
