Nokia signs multi-billion extension deal with Airtel: Under the partnership, Nokia will install its 4G and 5G equipment in several cities in India.

Nokia has bagged a multi-billion extension deal from Bharti Airtel. Under the deal, Nokia will install its 4G and 5G equipment in Indian cities for a multi-year period. Bharti Airtel has informed about this deal on Wednesday (November 20).

Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and MD of Bharti Airtel said, the deal will improve connectivity solutions for Airtel. Vittal said, 'This strategic partnership with Nokia will future proof our network infrastructure.

It will also provide a network that will be eco-friendly and reduce the impact on the environment, along with providing an unparalleled user experience to customers. This deal will provide premium 5G connectivity and high quality service to Airtel subscribers.

Subscribers will get premium 5G connectivity and high quality service Nokia President and CEO Pekka Lundmark said the agreement strengthens the collaboration between the two companies and will increase the energy efficiency of Airtel's network. The Nokia CEO said that with this deal Airtel customers will get premium 5G connectivity and high quality service.

A two-decade-old partnership between Nokia and Airtel for network equipment Nokia and Bharti Airtel have over two decades of partnership for network equipment. The duo recently launched the 'Green 5G initiative' to improve the energy efficiency of Airtel's network and reduce carbon emissions.

Airtel was earlier in talks with Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung Media reports on October 16 said that Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel is in talks with its telecom equipment suppliers Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung.

As per the agreement signed in August 2022, these companies are expected to supply approximately 50%, 45% and 5% of the new equipment requirements for Airtel's 4G and 5G networks.

Airtel's deal follows Vodafone Idea's $3.6 billion equipment deals with three major equipment vendors. VI's deal is to expand 4G network and gradually roll out 5G service.
