New update on UPI payment limit: now 60 days advance booking of train tickets, new rules on spam call-messages implemented; 5 big changes in November

From today i.e. from 1st November 2024, advance booking of railway tickets will now be possible up to 60 days in advance. Earlier this facility was available till 120 days back. At the same time, a commercial gas cylinder of 19 kg has become expensive by Rs 62. Apart from this, under the message traceability rule, telecom companies will identify suspicious or fake numbers and block them immediately, so that messages from these numbers cannot reach users. This will provide security to the users.

There will be 5 changes in the month of November…

1. Commercial gas cylinder costlier: Price hike by Rs 62

From today, a commercial cylinder of 19 kg has become expensive by Rs 62. In Delhi, its price has increased by Rs 62 to Rs 1802. Earlier it was available for Rs 1740. In Kolkata, it is available at ₹1911.50 with an increase of ₹61, from the earlier price of ₹1850.50.

The price of a cylinder in Mumbai has increased by Rs 62 from Rs 16.92.50 to Rs 1754.50. A cylinder is available in Chennai for Rs 1964.50. However, there has been no change in the prices of 14.2 KG domestic gas cylinders. It is available for ₹803 in Delhi and ₹802.50 in Mumbai.

2. Advance booking of railway tickets: Now book 60 days in advance, earlier time was 120 days

Indian Railways has changed the advance ticket booking rules. Earlier ticket booking started 120 days before travel, now it has been reduced to 60 days. According to the Ministry of Railways, the new rules for advance train ticket booking will not affect already booked tickets. Also, there is no change in the 365 day time limit for foreign tourists.

Currently, ticket booking is done through IRCTC website, app and railway booking counters. 12.38 lakh tickets are booked daily by IRCTC.

3. UPI Lite Limit Increase: ₹1000 can be transferred at one time

From today, Unified Payments Interface Lite (UPI Lite) users will be able to make more payments. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased the UPI Lite transaction limit from ₹500 to ₹1000. Along with this, UPI Lite wallet limit has also been increased from ₹2000 to ₹5000. At the same time, for feature phone users, RBI has increased the UPI 123 limit from ₹5000 to ₹10,000.

Additionally, starting today, if your UPI Lite balance falls below a certain limit, money will be added back to UPI Lite with the new auto top-up feature. With this, there will be no need for manual top-up and with the help of UPI Lite, payments can be made without any hindrance.

4. Message Traceability Rules Applicable: Fake numbers will be identified and blocked immediately

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)'s new rules regarding spam calls and messages will come into force from today. Under the message traceability rule, telecom companies will identify suspicious or fake numbers and block them immediately, so that messages from these numbers cannot reach users. This will provide security to the users. The government has instructed telecom companies to implement message tracking from November 1.

What are spam calls or messages? Spam calls or messages are calls or messages made to people from unknown numbers. In which people are tricked into taking a loan, getting a credit card, winning a lottery or buying a service or product from a company. All these calls or messages are made without your permission.

5. ATF up to Rs 2,992 expensive: Air travel can get expensive

Oil marketing companies have hiked the prices of Air Traffic Fuel (ATF) in metros. This can make air travel expensive. According to Indian Oil's Website, ATF in Delhi costs Rs. 2,941.5 to Rs. 90,538.72 per kiloliter (1000 litres) has become expensive. At the same time, the ATF in Kolkata was Rs. 2,781.99 to Rs. 93,392.79 per kiloliter has become expensive.

ATF in Mumbai Rs. 81,866.13 per kilolitre, it is now Rs. 2,776.78 will be expensive and Rs. 84,642.91 per kilolitre will be available. ATF price in Chennai has increased by Rs 2,992.67. It is now Rs. 93,957.10 per kiloliter available.

No change in petrol and diesel prices

There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel even today i.e. 1st October. Currently, petrol is selling at Rs 94.72 per liter while diesel is selling at Rs 87.62 per liter in Delhi. While in Mumbai, petrol is available at Rs 103.44 and diesel at Rs 89.97 per litre.
