Narayan Murthy's advice to work 70 hours again: Said- Sorry I haven't changed my view, I'll take it with me to my grave

Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy has defended his controversial statement about working 70 hours a week. He said that hard work is very necessary for the progress of India. At the CNBC Global Leadership Summit, Murthy said – I'm sorry, I haven't changed my view. I will take it with me to the grave.

He said that he was disappointed by India's change from a 6-day work week to a 5-day week in 1986. India's development requires sacrifice, not rest. Pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi works 100 hours a week, he said, 'When Prime Minister Modi is working so hard, whatever is happening around us, we can appreciate it only through our work.'

Founded Infosys Narayana Murthy did in 1981 Narayana Murthy founded India's second largest tech company Infosys in 1981. From then till 2002 he was the CEO of the company. After this, he was the Chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2006.

In August 2011, Murthy retired from the company with the title of Chairman Emeritus. However, once again he rejoined the company in 2013 as Executive Chairman. During this time his son Rohan Murthy was working as his executive assistant.
