Lenskart was created in 2010
In 2010, Lenskart founder Piyush Bansal along with his friend Amit Chaudhary from Kolkata came up with a plan to create a company that could change the habit of not wearing glasses in India. He found another co-founder Sumeet Kapahi on LinkedIn. Sumeet quit his job in an eyewear company a few months ago.
Together, the trio formed Value Technologies in 2010, a separate e-commerce website. It had Lenskart, Jewelkart, Bagkart and Watchkart websites. After a while, seeing the potential in the eyewear market, the trio began to focus solely on Lenscart.
