HCL co-founder Shiv Nadar is the country's biggest philanthropist. Shiva and his family donated Rs 2,153 crore last year i.e. in the financial year 2023-24. That is, 5.90 crore rupees were given daily. This information is given in Edalgive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2024.
The Nadar family topped the list, which was released on Thursday, November 7. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family are second. Ambani donated Rs 407 crore in the financial year 2023-24. The Bajaj family has secured the third position in the list by donating Rs 352 crore. This is 33% more than in 2023.
The top 10 celebrities in the list of donors contributed a total of Rs. 4,625 crore, which is about 53% of the total donations on the list. Krishna Chivukula and Sushmita and Subroto Bagchi are ranked 7th and 9th in the list. 6 of the top 10 donors have given more money to education under their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
Vivek Vakil is the youngest donor of Asian Paints Among the young donors on the list, 35-year-old Vivek Vakil, associated with Asian Paints, is the youngest donor. He has donated 8 crore rupees. At the same time, Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath (age 38), who was the youngest donor last year (2023), has come third this year. Nikhil along with his brother and Zerodha CEO Nitin Kamath (age 45) donated Rs 120 crore.
