BCCI's 10 strict rules after Australia's loss: Must play domestic cricket, no advertising during series, must attend practice sessions

Team India cricketers will now have to play domestic cricket. He will neither be able to advertise nor travel with his family during the series. Now attendance at practice sessions has been made mandatory.

The BCCI announced the guidelines on Thursday night following the 3-1 Test series loss on the tour of Australia and reports of discord in the Indian team's dressing room. In which 10 new rules have been created to create discipline and unity in the team.

According to him, the board has announced a ban on the presence of personal staff and players' families. Players may not take personal photoshoots during the series or tour.

10 points of BCCI guideline…

1. Cannot travel with family Players will not be able to travel with family and spouses during the entire tour. This rule will work more especially on foreign tours, so that the performance of the players is not affected. For tours of less than 45 days, families and spouses may stay together for up to 7 days. If a player wants to travel with his family or separately, the approval of the Head Coach and Chairman of the Selection Committee is required.

2. It will be necessary to play domestic cricket It has been made mandatory for Indian team players to play in domestic tournaments. Not only this, domestic tournament performance will be considered as a basis for team selection. If a player does not play domestic cricket for any reason, the information has to be given to the board. Also the approval of the chairman of the selection committee has to be taken.

3. Can't carry excess luggage Players will not be able to carry more luggage on a tour. If the baggage of the player is overweight then he has to pay for it himself. The board has also released separate guidelines for weight and baggage.

Baggage policy…

  • Long tour (more than 30 days) players: 5 pieces (3 suitcases + 2 kit bags) or 150 kg Support Staff: 2 pieces (2 large + 1 small suitcase) or 80 kg
  • SHORT TOURS (LESS THAN 30 DAYS) PLAYERS: 4 pieces (2 suitcases + 2 kit bags) or 120 kg Support Staff: 2 pieces (2 suitcases) or 60 kg
  • Home Series Players: 4 pieces (2 suitcases + 2 kit bags) or 120 kg Support Staff: 2 pieces (2 suitcases) or 60 kg

4. Send goods separately to Center of Excellence All players have to contact the team management to send luggage or personal items during the training camp at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. If an item is shipped by different means the player will have to bear additional cost.

5. No tour or series shall have any personal staff A player's personal staff (such as personal managers, chefs, assistants and security) will not travel to any series or tour. Unless approval is taken from the Board for this.

6. Attendance at practice session is compulsory Now every player has to attend the practice session. No practice session may be left early. During a series or tournament a person has to travel with the team from one place to another by bus. The board has made this rule for bonding between players.

7. No player may advertise No player will be allowed to shoot individually in series and tour. No player can advertise during this period. The board has taken this decision so that the attention of the players does not go astray.

8. Family does not get much time in foreign travel If a player stays on overseas tour for 45 days, his wife and child below 18 years of age can stay with him for 2 weeks during the series. BCCI will bear the cost of his stay during this period, but the remaining cost will have to be borne by the player.

On the other hand, anyone (family or other) can approach the player on the final date only after discussion with the coach and captain. During this time, if any player breaks the rules, the coach, captain and GM will be held responsible. The cost after the deadline will be borne by the player himself.

9. Must attend official shoots and functions Every player has to participate in official BCCI shoots, promotions and any other events. This decision has been taken for the promotion of sports and for the benefit of the stakeholders.

10. Players cannot return home early after the series is over Every player has to stay with the team till the end of the tour. Even if the series ends early, the player has to stay with the team. Each player will return with the team on a scheduled date. No player may go home early during this period. This decision has been taken for team bonding.

Warning of strict action if guidelines are not followed The board has instructed all the players to follow the guidelines strictly. Not only this, it has also warned of disciplinary action if the rules are not followed. If a player is unable to comply with any of these instructions, he must seek the permission of the Chairman of the Selection Committee and the Head Coach.

If a player violates the rules, the board will not allow him to play in tournaments, series and even IPL. Apart from this, the board can also terminate the salary and contract of the players.
