Champions Trophy: All India's matches to be held in UAE: ICC selects Dubai as neutral venue; If India reaches the semi-final and final, this match will also be played here

In the Champions Trophy 2017 final, Pakistan defeated India by 180 runs.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been selected to host India's match in the Champions Trophy. A source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave this information to PTI. Dubai has been chosen as a neutral venue following a meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and UAE Minister Sheikh Nahyan Al Mubarak on Saturday night.

If Team India qualifies for the knockouts, the semi-finals and finals will also be held in Dubai.

On December 19, Thursday, the ICC meeting decided that India will play the Champions Trophy match at a neutral venue instead of Pakistan. Also, the Pakistani team will not come to India for all the tournaments to be held in India till 2027. Its matches will also be held at neutral venues.

5 out of 15 matches will be held in UAE The 15-match tournament between 8 teams is scheduled to start from February 19 and will continue till March 9. However, the ICC has not announced the program yet. India will play all three of its group stage matches in the UAE. If India qualifies, the semi-finals and final will also be played here while the remaining 10 matches of the tournament will be played in Pakistan. PCB presented 4-5 demands in the meeting, but ICC rejected most of the demands.

Pakistan team came to India for ODI World Cup The Pakistan team came to India to play the ODI World Cup last year. Then on October 14, a match was played between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad. The Indian team won this match by 7 wickets. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer scored half centuries. Jasprit Bumrah became the player of the match. He took 2 wickets for 19 runs.

  • Pakistan came to India to play a bilateral series in 2013: Pakistan last toured India in 2012-13. The tour featured a bilateral series of 3 ODIs and 2 T-20 matches. Pakistan won the ODI series 2–1, while the T20 series was tied 1–1.

The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan was played in January 2013. Since then the two teams have met only in the ICC and ACC tournaments.

India does not go to Pakistan after terrorist attacks in Mumbai The Indian team has not toured Pakistan since 2007-08. After the terrorist attack on Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government refused to play cricket in Pakistan. Since then both teams play only in ICC and ACC tournaments. Since 2013 both teams have played 13 ODIs and 8 T20 matches at neutral venues. During 2009, there was also a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Pakistan.
