Actress Shweta Tripathi got a lot of recognition from the web series 'Mirzapur'. After the third season of this series, the second season of Shweta's 'Yeh Kali Kali Aanke' has also been streamed on Netflix. Recently the actress spoke to Frontpage Insights about this series. Meanwhile, apart from acting, he also talked about the social and environmental changes taking place.
The actress said that it is the responsibility of all of us to contribute to save the earth. The actress also revealed during the interview that she wears clothes borrowed from other people. Why he said this, we will know further in this interview. However, here are some special excerpts from our conversation with him…
When a character becomes popular in a series, what kind of challenges are faced to make the character more interesting in its next season? In the first season, we do what comes to our hearts and minds. When a show becomes popular, people tend to criticize a bit. However, I don't think an actor needs to think about it. Viewers have seen Golu's journey in Mirzapur so far. Season 2 of 'Yeh Kali Kali Aanke' is also streaming. I believe that if any show is made with true heart and love and the actors work with the same dedication, the audience likes the show.
Now, out of all the characters you've played, have you met any real characters? I played an acid attack survivor in the web series 'Calcutt'. During that time I met some people and called them acid attack victims. However, he calls himself a survivor. He too has his own dreams, but when his dream is shattered, it is not only his dream but the entire family's. Apart from 'Mirzapur' and 'Yeh Kali Kali Aanke', 'Calcutt' has also been liked by people.
You have played many memorable characters so far, what was your opinion about Bollywood actresses before entering the industry? The hero-heroine or any performing actor should do the job well. A writer-director must infuse life and breath into the character he writes. This is my thinking. I don't care what you look like or how tall you are. This society tells us what heroes and heroines should be like. Appearance, color and height are imposed on you. How you take up this challenge is up to you. I enjoy taking challenges.
What kind of challenges did you face when you entered the industry with this vision of society? I never minded that I was short. One place where the problem occurs is when we are at a party. Musical plays and friends are long. Then you can't hear what they say. I have always kept life simple. The harder you make your life, the harder life will become. I have never let my small height become my weakness.
Ever feel competitive with someone in the industry? No, everyone I've worked with has been very supportive. Learned a lot from Richa Chadha in 'Masaan' and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in 'Haramkhor'. These are films from the early stages of my career. As far as competition is concerned, it should be a healthy competition. If you are jealous of someone, try to understand why this is happening?
I also get jealous when people go to film festivals, because I love going there. Get a chance to watch all kinds of movies and meet people from all over the world. Movies are seen which are necessary for the society. Now watch my film 'Masaan' and 'Haramkhor', their story was something that society needed to tell.
Should this be the purpose of cinema, through which a message can be conveyed? Many changes are being seen in cinema now. How do you see this change? I would like to thank the OTT platform and the audience for everything that has changed cinema. Good content is being created, but if viewers don't watch, OTT efforts will go in vain. The kind of change that is being seen in the society, the same change is being seen in the cinema.
Now good characters are being written for girls, because now girls are advancing in every field. We needed such a change. Where no one is judged because of gender. It is time to unite people instead of dividing them. Similarly, knowingly or unknowingly, all of us have made the world worse.
How is your effort? I don't drink water in plastic bottles. It is about saving the world, but first we have to save ourselves. Plastic bottled water is very bad for our health. I try to wear whatever clothes I have left. I also borrow clothes and wear them. Recently, she went to a Tanishka event wearing her mother-in-law's saree.
When I go somewhere on vacation, I borrow clothes from my friends. Instead of buying, I buy clothes from my sister-in-law, friend and mother-in-law. In this way we keep sharing clothes with each other. It's a lot of fun and there's a lot of variety available. If the clothes are not dirty then there should be no harm in wearing them back.
I wear my own clothes again. This will save electricity spent on washing and ironing clothes. Now I have become a complete vegetarian. I also use very little tissue paper because it is made from cutting down trees.
