AAP second list, 17 MLAs ticket cut: Manish Sisodia to contest from Jangpura instead of Patpadganj; His seat was given to Oudh Ojha

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its second list for the Delhi Assembly elections on Monday (November 9). It has names of 20 candidates. Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia will contest from Jangpura. Earlier he was contesting from Patpadganj.

AAP has fielded UPSC teacher Avadh Ojha from Patpadganj. Ojha joined the party on December 2. In the list released today, AAP has canceled the ticket of sitting MLA Dilip Pandey from Timarpur. In his place, Surendra Pal Singh Bittu, who joined AAP from BJP two days ago, has been made the candidate.

AAP's first list came out on November 21, with names of 11 candidates. In which 6 people from BJP-Congress were given tickets.

The term of the Delhi Assembly ends on February 23, 2025. The last assembly elections were held in February 2020. AAP won 62 out of 70 seats. BJP won 8 and Congress could not win even one.

Ticket cancellation of Dilip Pandey from Timarpur, protest in the party Dilip Pandey's ticket from Timarpur has been cancelled. In his place, Surendra Pal Singh Bittu, who left BJP and joined AAP on December 6, has been given the ticket. In protest, 67 departmental and booth level officials and workers have submitted their resignations to National Coordinator Arvind Kejriwal in Timarpur.

AAP will cancel the tickets of 20 to 30 sitting MLAs AAP has been in power in Delhi for 10 years. To counter the anti-incumbency wave, the party is adopting a strategy of canceling the tickets of 20 to 30 of its sitting MLAs where there is public resentment against them. This includes many big faces. The strategy of changing the seats of some people is also being adopted.

The first list of AAP came out on 21st November, it had 11 names

Names of 3 out of 6 BJP and 3 Congress leaders in the first list AAP announced the first list of candidates on November 21. There are 11 names in the list. Six of them are leaders who left BJP or Congress and joined AAP. Brahmsinh Tanwar, Bibi Tyagi and Anil Jha recently left the BJP. While Zubair Chaudhary, Veer Singh Dhingan and Sumesh Shaukin have joined AAP from Congress.

The current term of the Delhi Assembly ends on 23 February 2025. The Election Commission completes the election process before the date of expiry of the five-year term of the current House.

3 major agitations in Delhi government in last one year…

1. Kejriwal released from jail after 156 days: The ED had arrested Kejriwal in the liquor policy case on March 21. Kejriwal spent around 156 days in jail. Currently out on bail. Two investigating agencies (ED and CBI) have registered a case against him. Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court on September 13 in the CBI case. At the same time, he got bail from the Supreme Court on July 12 in the ED case.

2. Resignation from the post of CM: After coming out of jail, Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of CM on the evening of September 17. Atishi and 4 ministers were present with him. After this, Atishi claimed to form a new government. Meanwhile, the Delhi government also convened a 2-day assembly session on September 26 and 27. On the change of power, the BJP said that Navnirman would not hide AAP's scars.

3. Atishi becomes the new CM: Atishi was sworn in as the 9th Chief Minister of Delhi on 21 September. Lt Governor (LG) Vinay Saxena administered the oath to him. After the oath, Atishi touched Arvind Kejriwal's feet. He is the youngest (43 years) CM of Delhi. Before this, Kejriwal became the CM at the age of 45. Atishi is the third woman CM of Delhi after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dixit.
