The ongoing controversy over the mosque in Varanasi's UP College is on the rise. On Friday, more than 500 students reached the college with saffron flags. They raised slogans there.

In fact, in 2018, the Central Sunni Waqf Board issued a notice to the college administration and declared the college land as its property. Recently this letter went viral again. Police have arrested Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, a party in the Gnanawapi case. It is alleged that over 500 worshipers stormed the college campus on November 29 due to his inflammatory statement. The accused is being interrogated by the police.

FIR against 12 including supporters of Gnanawapi Masjid case The police have registered a case against 12 people from the Muslim party for creating ruckus and spoiling the atmosphere outside a mosque in the UP college campus. College Principal Prof. A case was registered in Shivpur police station on the complaint of Dharmendra Singh.
This also includes the name of Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, the advocate of the Gnanawapi Masjid case. The principal has also provided YouTube links to videos, media and social media statements to the police. In which statements have been made regarding the mosque to spoil the atmosphere.

29 November- About 500 worshipers gathered in the college campus. Offered Friday prayers. Usually only 20 to 25 people used to come here to offer Namaz.
2 December- College students protested against the notice. An effigy of the Waqf Board was burnt.
3 December- Students recited Hanuman Chalisa 50 meters away from the mosque. There was a clash with the police. The police arrested 7 people including the student union president. He was let off with a warning later that evening. The Muslim party was prevented from offering prayers in the campus.
4 December- A letter was sent to the Sunni Central Waqf Board. In which it was said that he had no claim on any land of the college campus.
5 December- The Muslim party did not come to the mosque to offer prayers due to student protests.
