There is a big relief news for filmmaker Vasu Bhagnani. Mumbai's Bandra court has ordered the police to register an FIR against director Ali Abbas Zafar, co-director Himanshu Mehra and others on charges of fraud and forgery. The case is related to the 2024 film 'Bade Mian Chhote Mian'.
On September 3, 2024, Vasu Bhagnani accused Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra of Bandra Police for cheating, forgery and defrauding crores of rupees. He said that fake documents were signed in his name during the shooting of the film. However, the police did not take any action. After this, Vasu demanded to register an FIR in the court.
The court said on December 2, 2024 that the fraud involved a huge amount and was spread across many places. The court also said that the collection of evidence would require the help of several agencies and may involve many documents. The charges are serious and the case is cognizable and non-bailable. After this, the court ordered the Bandra Police to register an FIR under Sections 120-B, 406, 420, 465, 468, 471, 500 and 506 of the BNS, r/w.34.
Now Vasu Bhagnani hopes that he will get justice soon as the case will be disposed of soon under the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023. This case is once again bringing up the controversies of the movie 'Bade Mian Chhote Mian'.
For the past several months, a legal dispute has been going on between Vasu Bhagnani and Ali Abbas Zafar regarding the film 'Bade Mian Chhote Mian'. Vasu and Jackie Bhagnani accused Zafar of misusing the subsidy received from Abu Dhabi and hijacking the film. He also said that Zafar and his partners hatched a criminal conspiracy.
The complaint was made by Vasu when Ali Abbas Zafar complained to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) about non-payment of Rs 7.30 crore, which he was supposed to receive for directing the film.
Ali Abbas Zafar has not yet made any public statement on the controversy. FWICE members have asked him to give evidence. Pooja Entertainment denied Zafar's allegations, saying the balance was calculated through set-offs. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in lead roles. It was released in April 2024. However, the film received disappointing response from the audience.
In July 2024, the country's famous filmmaker Vasu Bhagnani was reported to have not paid Rs 65 lakh to the crew members who worked on his film. For this the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had to intervene. He pressured Vasu, after which he paid the crew members last month i.e. August.
