Mercury below 10° in Delhi for first time in December: Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan gets chilly; Temperature in Srinagar -4.1°; 2 days of rain and snow in Himachal

Capital Delhi recorded temperatures below 10 degrees for the first time in December due to cold winds coming from the north-west of the country. The temperature dropped to 8.5 degrees Celsius on Friday morning. The Meteorological Department says that the temperature may drop by 6 degrees by December 10.

On the other hand, the effect of cold winds was also seen in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Weather in mountains may change due to Western Disturbance on December 7. Snowfall is also possible. Due to which the temperature in the plains states is likely to drop below 10 degrees.

Here, the temperature in Kashmir dipped to minus one, the coldest night of the season in most parts of the valley. Mercury in Srinagar was recorded below minus 4.1° and Qazigund below minus 4.4°.

Some plains and hilly areas of Jammu division are likely to experience light rain or light snowfall from December 8 to December 9.

Delhi's air improved

AQI was recorded at 165 in Delhi on Thursday. When the AQI fell into the bad to moderate range, the Supreme Court also agreed to lift GRAP-4 restrictions, after which the Center for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced on Thursday night the lifting of GRAP-4 and implementation of GRAP-2 restrictions.

After the easing of restrictions, the Directorate of Education said that classes will resume in Delhi schools from Friday. All schools will no longer conduct online classes for all children up to class 12.

Old vehicles will continue to be banned in Delhi under Group 2 restrictions. Restrictions on burning coal and wood will also remain in place. It is also advised to use public transport instead of private vehicles.

The temperature in some districts was continuously rising as the cold weather has bid farewell to Gujarat for the last four days. The minimum temperature in surrounding areas including Ahmedabad reached 20 degrees Celsius. And the coastal areas recorded a minimum temperature of more than 23 degrees Celsius. But according to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, once again the cold round will start with the drop in temperature, the effect of which started to be felt from yesterday.

Rajasthan: Mercury will drop due to cold winds, night temperature may touch 3 degrees

Due to the effect of northerly winds, the temperature has dropped in Rajasthan. Due to this, Seeker Hill Station was colder than Mount Abu on Thursday. The temperature here was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius. A strong Western Disturbance will be active over North India from December 7. Due to the impact of this system, northwest districts of Rajasthan may also see light clouds on December 8-9.

Madhya Pradesh: Severe cold again after 2 days, chances of rain on December 8

The weather will change in the state from December 7 and 8. The severe cold spell will begin at night, while the eastern districts ie Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar divisions are likely to receive rain. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the activation of Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of rain in the eastern region.

Chhattisgarh: Rain alert in 16 districts, weather will change on December 8

Rain is likely in 16 districts of the state on December 8. The districts of Bastar division are likely to receive rain from tomorrow (Saturday) due to moisture from the Bay of Bengal. The weather will remain dry in the districts of Surguja division due to which the minimum temperature will continue to fall. The cold has disappeared in Bilaspur-Raipur.

Bihar: Temperature 8 degrees in 6 districts, cold will increase after December 15

Bihar has started getting colder due to western winds. Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabua, Aurangabad and Arwal recorded this season's lowest temperature of 8-10 degrees on Thursday. The rest of the districts recorded a minimum temperature of 10-12 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, severe cold will be experienced from December 20. The state will experience bone-chilling cold from December 15 to January 15.
