'I feel insulted': Singer Abhijit Bhattacharya fumed at Shah Rukh Khan, says- He has become a 'star' and is no longer just a 'man'

Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has lent his voice to many iconic songs of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. He has sung many hit songs for King Khan in the 1990s and 2000s. These include 'Tauba Tumhare Ishare' and 'Wo Ladki Jo Sab Se Alleg Hai'. Recently, Abhijit Bhattacharya opened up about his strained relationship with King Khan. He said the problems started when he felt his work was not being given due credit.

During a conversation with news agency ANI, Abhijit Bhattacharya revealed why he stopped singing for Shah Rukh Khan. He said, 'When self-esteem is hurt, it feels like enough is enough. I was not singing for him (Shah Rukh Khan). I used to sing for my work, but when I saw that he was honoring the tea-servers on the sets but not the singers, I thought why should I be his voice?'

Refused to sing for Shah Rukh He continued, 'The worst part is the singers with me, who worked in those films. He came to me and said Dada this is wrong. I told them that you all stop singing too. I will see what happens next. This happened not just once but in two films. I told him to go and talk to Farah (Khan). Say we won't sing a song for a film unless you give us credit. He said 'You go and talk to Farah'. I said why should I tell Farah, I will tell Shah Rukh Khan directly. I won't sing for you unless you give us credit.'

Abhijit feels humiliated Abhijit Bhattacharya further said, 'It shocks me, I feel humiliated when my family watches. Doesn't feel good. All this is burning in me, I said I will not sing.' However, he said he had no grudges. It is not that her and Shahrukh's relationship has broken.

Both have their own egos The singer said, 'Shah Rukh Khan has become such a big star that he is no longer just a man. Perhaps he himself does not know what level he has reached, so why should I expect anything from him? I'm still the same person I was before. I'm on my way. I am 5-6 years older than him. No one needed to apologize. We both have our egos. Our birthdays are only one day apart. I don't need him or his support.'
