Aditi Govitrikar Rejects Yash Chopra's Offer: Says Biggest Mistake of My Life, Had Some Bad Experiences in Bollywood

Aditi Govitrikar, who was Mrs. World, never took the profession of acting seriously. When Yash Chopra called her after the Gladrags Megamodel competition, she did not go to meet him. Even today, Aditi regrets this and calls it the biggest mistake of her life. However, later he did a few films, but acting was his parallel field. His entire focus was only on medical and modeling.

Recently, Aditi Govitrikar visited Frontpage Insights's office in Mumbai. He shared things related to upcoming projects, career and life.

What are you doing at this time?

The web series 'Mismatched Season 3' will stream on Netflix on December 13. This is a very popular series. His story line was initially on the youngsters. His relationship and life difficulties were highlighted. Now there will be a few more things in it, in which I play the role of Rohit Saraf's mother. When I get married for the second time, my son takes me to the wedding hall. The producer has also selected such topics in it.

Recently a series 'Life Khil Gayi' was released on Disney Hot Star. Apart from this I have started Marvelous Mrs. India. Married, widowed and divorced women participate in it. Its second season was released in October. Currently preparations for its third season are going on.

What was your idea behind starting Marvelous Mrs. India?

When I participated in Mrs. World. My daughter was one year old at that time. People used to tell me that you are married. Why think about this now? Your career is going well. If people find out about the marriage, you will not get work in the glamor field. At that time, people believed that careers in the glamor field ended after marriage and children.

I used to think that it is wrong if people give me work based on my personal status. I had a medical degree. If I don't get work in glamor field then I will go to medical field. With that thought I participated in Mrs. World and I won. Then people in our country came to know that there is something like Mrs. World.

I want to give a platform to women who are dreaming to become something in life. To give due respect to women, I started the Marvelous Mrs. India Beauty Pageant. So that I can celebrate the journey of women who want to do something in life.

How was your Mrs. World trip?

In 2001, women from 47 countries participated in the Mrs. World pageant. Many of the ladies had their entire families come during the finale. None of my family was. Ritesh Deshmukh came on the request of a common friend of mine. I did not know him at that time. He was studying in New York at that time, but I was happy to know that someone from India had come there.

Have you thought of trying your luck at Glamor Field?

From childhood I wanted to be a doctor. My father was very strict. He said that he will not donate for admission in a private college if he does not get merit. My full focus was on studies. I scored good marks and got admission in JJ Medical College.

My mother was very fond of watching movies. I grew up in Panvel, the railway station there was very famous for shooting. She was going there with her mother to watch the shooting. I didn't even remember. Mom used to tell me that she used to take me on her lap to watch the shooting, but the thought of becoming an actor and model never crossed my mind.

So how did you get the idea of becoming a model and actor?

I love new challenges. I enjoy making friends with people from different walks of life. It increases our knowledge. I went to Lonavala with a photographer friend of mine. I was sitting, suddenly he looked at me and said your body language is like a model. He shot some photos of me. His father worked in an ad agency. He advised me to model.

I participated in Gladrags Megamodel Competition in 1996 and won. Yash Chopra, Hema Malini, Shobha De Jj were in that competition. Yash Chopraji asked to meet. I was not interested in films at that time. That's why I didn't go to meet him. That was the biggest mistake of my life. I never met such a great personality. Getting work in films or not was a different matter. Well, even after this I kept getting offers for films and I refused.

But then when did you feel that you should try your luck in acting?

when As the acting offers kept pouring in, I thought why not give it a try? In 1999, I worked with Pawan Kalyan in the Telugu film 'Thammudu'. This film was a superhit. I should have stayed there, but came back. I did many Hindi films like '16 December', 'Soch', 'De Dana Dan', but my focus remained on modelling.

How was the experience of working in Bollywood, why did you stay away after working in so many films?

One of the reasons is that I never looked into acting. If I liked the roles of the films that came to me, I did them. I have never approached anyone for films. Acting was my parallel field. My full focus was only on medical and modeling. Also continued acting with him, but had one or two not so good experiences.

What has been the biggest struggle in life?

All life is a struggle. My personal life was not successful. It took me a long time to get over it. I don't want to talk about it anymore, but I never felt like a failure. Always wanted to be successful in life. There was never any struggle in the film industry, because I had an option that if I didn't succeed here, there was the medical field.

You were talking about personal life, what is the reason that there is a gap between husband and wife after marriage?

There are no guarantees in a relationship, but there should be awareness. There should be understanding between two persons in a relationship. We move slowly in our life. Physical and mental changes keep happening. If this change does not happen, it will be sad. The biggest problem today is mobile phones. Due to which many relationships get broken.
