A delegation of Kerala MPs led by Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday. During the meeting, a demand was made to release a fund of Rs 2 thousand crore by the Center for the rehabilitation of people affected by landslides in Wayanad.
After this meeting which lasted for 10 minutes in the Parliament House, Priyanka said that she told Shah – politics should be kept aside and help should be provided to the people of Wayanad. PM went to Wayanad, but did nothing.
Priyanka said – We have informed the Home Minister about the situation in Wayanad. The people there are devastated. He has no support system.
People's homes, businesses, schools have all been destroyed. The people there should be helped as much as possible. All is ruined for the affected people in Wayanad. In such a situation, if the central government does nothing, what can we do?
In fact, the landslide occurred between 2 pm and 4 am on July 29 in Mundakkai, Churalmala, Attmala and Noolpuza villages in Wayanad. In which more than 400 people died.

- I have told Shah that we should put politics aside and recognize the pain of these people, because their pain is immense. This matter needs to be considered very seriously.
- Prime Minister Modi also went to Wayanad and met the victims, but when I met the victims, there was hope in them that the Prime Minister would do something. However PM has not helped yet.
- We want the central government to come forward to provide relief to the affected people, so that these people can resume their lives.
- The affected people of Wayanad are looking towards the central government with great hope. They want their shattered lives to get back on track.
- There is an urgent need for rehabilitation of people affected by landslides in Wayanad. The victims of this tragedy want to resume their lives with dignity.
Wayanad Landslide- Center has already refused to declare a national disaster
The central government has already refused to declare the Wayanad landslide a national disaster. In fact, after the landslide, in August, the state government wrote to Prime Minister Modi seeking to declare the Wayanad landslide a national disaster.
On November 10, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai wrote a letter to the Kerala government. In this he said that under the existing guidelines of SDRF-NDRF, there is no provision to declare any disaster as a national disaster.
