IndiGo is one of the worst airlines in the world: European Rating Agency ranked 103rd out of 109 airlines, the company raised questions on the method.

Indigo, India's largest airline in terms of market share, has been included in the list of the world's worst airlines. The European Air Passenger Claims Processing and Facilitating Agency included 109 airlines in its survey, in which IndiGo was ranked 103rd.

AirHelp releases annual rankings of international airlines and airports. There are three criteria for this – on-time performance, customer opinion, and processing of compensation claims. According to AirHelp, all three criteria contribute equally to determining an airline's score. That means everyone's share in it is 33.33%.

Air India got 61st position, its score was 6.15

In its 2024 report, AirHelp gave IndiGo a score of 4.80. The only other Indian airline in the list is Air India, which got 6.15 and is ranked 61st. Brussels Airlines has topped the list, followed by Qatar Airways and United Airlines at second and third position with scores of 8.12, 8.11 and 8.04.

Indigo raised questions on the method of ranking

However, IndiGo has questioned the methodology and process used to prepare the AirHelp ranking. The airline said, 'India's aviation regulator DGCA i.e. Director General of Civil Aviation issues monthly reports on the basis of the airline's punctuality and customer complaints.

In this, IndiGo has been consistently scoring top rank for least complaints and punctuality. The data published in the survey by AirHelp has not given information about the sample size taken from India, nor has it taken into account the methods of preparation and the guidelines of the global aviation industry. Therefore the credibility of this report is doubtful.
