Beef Ban in Assam: Not to be served at public events, restaurants and hotels; Minister said- Congress should welcome the decision or go to Pakistan

Assam government has banned beef. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information on social media platform X on Thursday and said that this decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting. Now it will not be served in hotels, restaurants and public places in the state.

Announcing this, Water Resources Minister Piyush Hazarika said- Congress should welcome this decision or go to Pakistan.

In fact, the Samguri seat went to polls on November 13 for the by-election. After the results were declared on November 23, MP Rakibul Hussain accused the BJP of dividing the beef over the Congress's defeat.

In response, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media after the BJP meeting on Saturday that he is ready to ban beef in the state if the Congress gives it in writing.

Sarma had asked – Can the Samguri seat be won by giving beef? Sarma said, I want to know whether the Congress is winning the elections by inciting the voters. He knows the material well. Does this mean that Samguri can be won by giving beef? This year, Hussain Dhubri became an MP by winning the Lok Sabha seat with a record margin of over 10.12 lakh votes. Before this, he was MLA from Samguri for five consecutive terms.

Sarma said, I want to tell Rakibul Hussain that beef should be banned because he himself has said that it is wrong. They just need to be given to me in writing. BJP and Congress should not talk about beef. BJP, AGP, CPM will not be able to give anything and all Hindus, Muslims and Christians should stop eating beef.

What does the Assam Cattle Preservation Act 2021 say? Beef consumption is not illegal in Assam, but the Assam Cattle Preservation Act 2021 prohibits the slaughter and sale of beef in areas where Hindus, Jains and Sikhs are in majority and within five kilometers of any temple or satra (Vaishnava Math).
