The days of 'Tarikh Pe Tarikh' are over: Modi said in Chandigarh – Fight against terrorism strong; Legal hurdles in taking action against corruption will be removed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (December 3) reviewed the implementation of 3 new laws at the Punjab Engineering College (PEC) in Chandigarh. Along with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that now the days of 'Tarikh Pe Tarikh' are over. The new laws will strengthen the fight against terrorism. Legal hurdles will be removed in the fight against corruption.

1. People thought that if the British left, they would be free from their laws PM Modi said that in 2020, notification was issued regarding 3 laws. After this suggestions were taken from many places. In which he interacted with the High Court judges and people. Brainstormed on the challenges faced by the justice system in the seven decades of independence.

The country got independence in 1947. After the sacrifice of so many people, what dreams were there when freedom started, what enthusiasm people had. People believed that if the British left, they would be freed from British laws. These laws were a tool of exploitation for the British, through which they wanted to consolidate their power in India.

2. IPC was created to punish Indians The PM said that the rebellion against the British started in our country in 1857. After which the British formed the IPC in 1860. The purpose of these laws was to punish and enslave the Indians. At the same time, decades after the country's independence, they continued to revolve around the same penal code. Although these laws were slightly modified, their character remained the same.

Why obey laws made for slaves in a free country? Neither we asked him about this nor the people in authority understood. He influenced India's development journey. Also now the country has come out of slavery. For this a national idea was necessary. So I presented this to the people on August 15 from the Red Fort.

3. Poor laborers will no longer fear the courts PM said that poor and weak people are afraid in the name of law. Earlier they were afraid to step in the court, but now the Indian Judiciary Code will work to change this mindset of people. Which is guaranteed in our constitution. 4. Zero FIR becomes legal, name of accused will be removed with consent of victim These laws are becoming the protector of citizens' rights. Firstly, registering an FIR is difficult. Now zero FIR has been given legal form. A copy of the FIR will be given to the victim. If a case is to be dropped from the accused, the consent of the victim will be necessary. No one can be forcibly detained, his family must be informed.

5. Accused shall not remain in jail for long without punishment Now the accused cannot be kept in jail for a long time without punishment. Apart from this, many new things have been included in the new law. Everything in this is timed. Information about new laws is coming. It is encouraging.

In a vehicle theft case in Chandigarh, the sentence was pronounced in just two months. The accused who created unrest in the area was sentenced to 20 days. In Delhi too, it took 60 days to deliver the sentence based on the FIR. The sentence was pronounced within 14 days after the murder case was registered in Bihar's Chhapra. The culprits have been sentenced to life imprisonment.

6. Summons will be sent over phone, digital facts will be admissible Now the world is changing fast. Criminals and crime patterns have changed. How can the 19th century system be viable in such a situation? In such a situation this change has been made. Now summons will be sent directly to people's phones. Digital facts will be valid. In case of theft, matching the fingerprint with the video will be the legal basis.

8. Much discussion on new laws The PM said that when some laws are made, there is a lot of discussion, like Article 370 was discussed, triple talaq was also discussed. In the old laws such derogatory terms were used for them, which the civilized society would not accept. We have made the law for the disabled. So, I want every department, agency, police personnel to know the new provisions and understand their feelings. I would like to ask all the state governments of the country to implement the new law effectively.

These laws will be implemented across the country within 3 years. Will get rid of date (bail). The ultimate soul of these laws is Indian and their purpose is to give justice to Indians.

3. The world's biggest reforms will be implemented across the country in three years Three years from now our criminal justice system will be the best in the world. This will be the biggest improvement in the world. The process of making the law began in 2019. More than 160 meetings were held. This is a study of the criminal justice systems of 43 countries. More than 11 lakh officers were trained to enforce the law.

PM explained police work Earlier, Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur explained the functioning of the police to PM Modi, Amit Shah and Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. The new law gives people the right to file their complaints in any language they know. It is not necessary for them to have knowledge of Hindi or English language. His complaint will definitely be taken up in the police station. People can sit anywhere and register their complaint. They will not have to go round the police station.
