Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the DGP-IGP conference starting from Saturday in Bhubaneswar. He reached Bhubaneswar yesterday evening. Today he will attend the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Center in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the conference on November 29. Where he presented trophies to the 3 best police stations in the country for distinguished service.
Important issues of national security will be discussed in this conference. These include issues such as terrorism, left-wing extremism, coastal defence, new criminal laws and drugs.
Pattpur Police Station in Ganjam district of Odisha was given the trophy for the second best police station. Sabyasachi Malla was presented with a trophy and certificate.
The conference will discuss the internal and external security of the country
In this conference, law and order issues in the country will be discussed, to examine the performance of states on security and to find ways to tackle the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies. Issues such as internal security, left-wing extremism, terrorism and counter-terrorism, cybercrime and challenges posed by AI will be discussed during the conference.
The President's Medal for Distinguished Service was also awarded
Since becoming PM in 2014, Modi has encouraged the organization of conferences across the country. The conference has so far been held in Guwahati (Assam), Rann of Kutch (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), Technpur (Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh), Statue of Unity (Kevadia, Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), It has already been held in New Delhi and Jaipur (Rajasthan). This time it is held in Odisha.
Security was beefed up due to Pannu's threat
Pannu, head of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) outfit, released a threatening video a few days ago. In which he asked Naxalites, Maoists, Kashmiri terrorists to disrupt the DG-IGP Conference-2024. Due to which more than 70 platoons of police force have been deployed for the 59th DG-IGP Conference 2024.
