The effect of cold is continuously increasing in the northern states of the country as well as the states of central India. The Meteorological Department has declared dense fog alert in 8 states. It includes Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha and West Bengal.
Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are currently the coldest states in North India due to snowfall. The Met department said that the night temperature in Himachal's Lahaul Spiti has touched minus 11 degrees. In the coming days, the cold may increase here.
In central India, the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh i.e. Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar is getting colder. Minimum temperature in Shahdol and Mandala is lower than Shimla, Dehradun, Jammu and Katra. The night temperature has dropped below 7 degrees here.
On the other hand, Cyclone Fangal may hit Tamil Nadu tomorrow i.e. November 30 morning. Due to its effect, heavy rains are continuing in many districts of Tamil Nadu for the last 3 days. Rain is also predicted in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka today.

What are the preparations to meet the hurricane?
- Collectors of cyclone-prone districts informed the Chief Minister that adequate number of relief camps and medical teams have been kept on standby and all necessary arrangements have been made.
- Stalin has ordered all officials to make all necessary items available at relief centers and evacuate people from low-lying areas to safer places before the storm hits.
- Fishermen have been advised not to venture to the coastal areas of south-west Bay of Bengal, Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu till November 29.
- Avoid fishing in the coastal areas of west-central Bay of Bengal and south Andhra Pradesh till November 29. Fishermen present in the sea have been advised to return to shore immediately.
Coldest night of the season in Delhi
- The coldest night of this season was recorded in Delhi on Thursday night, November 28. According to the IMD, the temperature on Thursday was recorded at 10.1 degree Celsius. Earlier, 10.2 degrees Celsius was recorded on the night of November 21 and 10.4 degrees Celsius on November 27.
- Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius during the day, one degree above normal. This is the second lowest temperature of this season. The coldest day temperature was recorded at 23.5 °C on 19 November.
