Mexico's warning against Trump's threat to increase tariffs: President said – 4 lakh Americans will lose their jobs; There is no intention to seal the border

Mexico has warned over Donald Trump's tariff statement. President Claudia Schinbaum said that if the US raises tariffs on Mexico, it will also raise tariffs in response.

Shinbaum also responded to Trump's statement in which he claimed the Mexican president was ready to seal his borders to stop immigration to the United States. Shinbaum said he has no intention of sealing the border.

Mexico's Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard has also warned the US of starting a regional trade war. He said that this step of America will be like throwing an ax in its own feet. Due to which 4 lakh Americans may lose their jobs.

In fact, Trump said two days ago that he would impose heavy tariffs on goods coming into the US from Canada, Mexico and China on his first day after taking the oath of office. Trump has said that unless these three countries control drugs and illegal immigrants, they will have to bear the brunt of heavy tariffs imposed by the US.

The minister said, if tariffs are imposed, the American economy will suffer According to CNN, the automobile industry is a major contributor to Mexico's economy. About 25% of vehicles sold in the US are made in Mexico. The increase in tariffs will increase the cost of these vehicles in America.

Mexico's Economy Minister said that 88% of the pick-up trucks sold in America are made in Mexico. These sell heavily in rural America, where Trump has drawn heavy votes. If Trump imposes tariffs on goods from Mexico, it could increase the cost of vehicles by up to $3,000. Not only will this hurt American companies, but it will also have a negative impact on the American economy.

According to experts, the decision to increase tariffs could prove bad for American companies. He says that this tariff could have a big impact on the profits of the 'Detroit Three Automakers'.

The Detroit Three include General Motors, Ford, and Stellar. These three are the largest car manufacturing companies in America. These companies manufacture their vehicles in Mexico and sell them in America.

Mexico will not seal the border to stop migration President Sheinbaum and Donald Trump had a conversation on Wednesday. After this, Trump said that President Shinbaum has agreed to close his borders to prevent travelers from coming to America through Mexico. On that, Sheinbaum said, Mexico's intention is not to close the border, but to build a bridge between the government and the people.

Shinbaum said-

We discussed Mexico's strategy on migration. I told them that the migrants are not coming from the northern border because they are stopped in Mexico.

According to a report, the number of migrants entering the US from Mexico has dropped drastically in the past few months. In December 2023, the number of these migrants was more than 2.5 lakh, but in August this number has reduced to 58 thousand.
