In 2023, Sooraj Pancholi was acquitted of the charge of abetting the suicide in actress Jiah Khan's suicide case. Now in a new interview, Sooraj's mother Zareena Wahab has claimed that Jiya had tried to commit suicide several times even before meeting her son.
In an interview given to Lehren Retro, Zarina said – Even before meeting Sooraj, she tried to commit suicide 4-5 times but luckily it happened only when my son's turn came.
Zarina said- everyone knows what Jia used to do Zarina also revealed that Sooraj suffered a lot professionally due to his involvement in the matter. He said- We all have gone through bad times. But one thing I believe is that if you ruin someone's life with a lie, you have to pay back with interest.
We the people waited, when he was not even guilty. It took 10 years. But I am happy that he is coming out of this now. However, this also affected Suraj's career. Everyone knows what she (Jia) used to do. I don't want to open my mouth. I don't want to look down on myself by saying this.
Jia made her debut with Amitabh Bachchan's film Jiah Khan worked with Amitabh Bachchan in his debut film. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film was titled 'Nishabd'. After this he acted in Aamir Khan's blockbuster film 'Ghajani'. His last film was Akshay Kumar starrer 'Housefull'. Both 'Gajni' and 'Housefull' did more than 100 crore business.
Jia and Sooraj met through Facebook According to media reports, Jia and Sooraj met through Facebook in 2012. Gradually the closeness between the two increased and they entered into a relationship. Jia and Sooraj's family members knew about their relationship. The photos of both of them also went viral. There were also reports that he was in a live-in relationship.
Jia committed suicide in 2013 On June 3, 2013, Jia's mother was found dead in her Mumbai home. On the complaint of Jia's mother, actor and boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was arrested for abetting suicide. A suicide note was also found near Jia's body, which read – I gave you so much love, but in return I got only betrayal and lies.
10 years after his arrest, a special CBI court acquitted Suraj in the case.
