On Wednesday, 89 people were killed in an attack by rebel groups in Syria. According to a New York Times report, this was the biggest attack by the insurgents in the last 4 years. They have also captured a military base of the Syrian Army. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, one of the groups that carried out Wednesday's attack, is backed by Al Qaeda.
These terrorist organizations have penetrated up to 9.5 kilometers into Aleppo, one of the largest cities in Syria. Its fighters have seized weapons and vehicles from troops supporting Bashar al-Assad's government, claiming on Telegram that they have captured 46 Syrian government military bases.
They managed to capture several villages of Aleppo city within just 10 hours. However, the Syrian government has not commented on these claims. In 2020, an accord was reached between the rebels and the Assad government with the help of Turkey, who reduced major attacks there.
