Death threats against Trump Cabinet nominees: Defense, Labor, FBI probe

​​​​​​​​​​Many people elected to the new government of Donald Trump in America have received death threats. According to CNN, the people who are going to take over the responsibilities of the Department of Defense, Housing, Agriculture, Labor have received threats.

Carolyn Levitt, who was chosen as the new press secretary in the Trump cabinet, said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has opened an investigation. However, Levitt did not specify which people received these threats.

President Joe Biden said he condemned these threats of political violence. According to the report, none of the people who received threats received protection from the US Secret Agency.

So far 8 leaders have received threats

The FBI said they are taking the threats seriously. Along with bomb threats, some cases of 'swatting' have also come to light.

Swatting is associated with America's 'Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT)'. This involves making a falsely informed call of danger and sending a SWAT team to the victim's home. The FBI also did not say which people received the threats.

Those who have received threats have themselves confirmed this on social media.

Elise Stefanik's house received a bomb threat

Republican leader Elise Stefanik was the first to take to social media to say her home had been bombed. Trump has chosen Stefanik to be ambassador to the United Nations, Stefanik said that I received a threat. She said she was traveling from Washington to Saratoga County with her husband and three-year-old son. Then he received this threat. According to the report, so far 8 people have claimed to have received threats.

Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth also claimed on social media that he too had been threatened. He said he was not afraid of such threats.

Lee Geldin, who was elected to head the Environmental Protection Agency, said his home had also received a bomb threat. These threats included messages written in support of Palestine. His family was not at home when the threat was made.

A former DBI director said that 90% of threats remain ineffective but ignoring any threat can be dangerous.
