Gujarat team's opener and wicketkeeper Urvil Patel has become the fastest Indian batsman to score a century in the T-20 format. He scored a century in just 28 balls against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday.
The match was played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Before Urvil, the record was held by Rishabh Pant, who scored a 32-ball century against Himachal Pradesh in the same tournament in 2018. Urvill scored an unbeaten 113 off 35 balls, hitting 12 sixes and 7 fours.
Gujarat won this match by 8 wickets Batting first, Tripura scored 155 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat won by scoring 156 runs for 2 wickets in just 10.2 overs. Urville won the team by 8 wickets. He shared 150 runs for the first wicket with opener Aryan Desai.

Before that, Estonia's Sahil Chauhan scored a 27-ball century against Cyprus. West Indies' Chris Gayle is at number three. He scored a 30-ball century while playing for RCB against Pune Warriors in the IPL-2013 season.

In the IPL Mega Auction Urvil remained unsold Urvil remained unsold in the mega auction of IPL-2025. The auction was held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He was bought by Gujarat Titans in the 2023 mini auction, though he did not get a chance to play a match.
Urvill also has the second fastest List-A century Urvil had earlier scored a 41-ball century against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on November 27 last year. This was the second fastest century in List-A cricket. Ahead of him on the list is Yusuf Pathan, who scored a 40-ball century in 2009-10.
Urvill has scored 988 runs at an average of 23.52 in 44 T20 matches, including 1 century and 4 half-centuries. His overall strike rate in T-20s is 164.11.
