On 26 November, Shinde submitted his resignation to the Governor. Meanwhile, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were also present.
Even after 4 days of the results of the Maharashtra assembly elections, the name of the Chief Minister could not be decided. For this, the BJP will send observers here today, who will take opinion polls from the MLAs and announce the name of the Chief Minister.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan. Shinde has been the Chief Minister from 28 June 2022 to 26 November 2024.
The tenure of the assembly also ended on Tuesday itself. Shinde will hold the post of acting CM until the new CM takes oath.
However, according to some media reports, the name of Devendra Fadnavis has almost been finalized for the new Chief Minister.
If Fadnavis becomes the CM, the new government will have two deputy CMs as before. Ajit Pawar from NCP and Shinde from Shiv Sena may put forward the name of the new MLA.
According to sources, a committee of the three parties may be formed to decide the agenda of the new government, which may be headed by Eknath Shinde. However, Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde denied this.
MVA can file a joint suit against the Leader of the Opposition
In the assembly elections, none of the opposition parties got the required number of seats for the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the House. As per the rules, the post is given to the opposition party that wins at least 10% of the assembly seats.
If several parties have secured more than this number of seats, then the opposition party with the highest number of seats is given the seat. Not so this time, so MVA can claim the post of joint LoP. In this regard, a letter will be written to the Governor to argue for a pre-poll alliance.
Raj Thackeray's party may lose credibility
Raj Thackeray's party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) could not win a single seat in this election. The vote share of the party is also only 1.55%. Raj Thackeray's party may be de-recognized due to these results. The Election Commission can take away his symbol.
According to Election Commission rules, if the party has one MLA and 8% of the votes, the recognition remains. If two MLAs get 6% votes or three MLAs get 3% votes, it remains valid.
Ajith said – I made a mistake in the Lok Sabha elections
After the results came in, Ajit Pawar on Monday gave his first reaction on contesting against nephew Yugendra Pawar. Talking to the media, Ajith said- Yugendra is a businessman, he has nothing to do with politics. There was no reason to field my nephew against me.
Also, on fielding his wife against his sister in the Lok Sabha elections, he again said that I have made a mistake, but if you want to send a message, will you field someone from your own family against me?
The Sharad Pawar camp gave ticket to Yugendra, son of Ajit Pawar's elder brother Srinivas Pawar, from the Baramati seat. Ajith defeated Yugendra by more than 1 lakh votes.
