Demonstration to free Chinmay Prabhu of Bangladesh ISKCON: Attack on protesting Hindus at Dhaka University, over 20 injured

Demonstrations started in different parts of the country for the release of Chinmay Krishnadas Prabhu, a religious leader associated with Bangladesh ISKCON. Demonstrators blocked roads in Dhaka, Chadgaon and Dinajpur and raised slogans demanding early release of Prabhu. According to media reports, a case is pending against Chinmoy Das Prabhu for sedition and disturbing communal harmony.

Demonstrators were attacked with sticks by some people who were demonstrating in Dhaka's Shahbagh. More than 20 people have been injured in this attack. He has been admitted to the hospital. The spot where the Hindus were attacked is just 30 meters away from the Shahbag police station.

It is being said that while the extremists were attacking people who were peacefully protesting, the administration and the police did not take any action to stop them.

More than 20 people have been injured in the attack. 3 are in critical condition.

Demonstrators blocked roads in several cities.

Some people attacked Hindus protesting in Dhaka University and dispersed them.

Chinmoy Prabhu arrested at airport

Bangladesh Police arrested Chinmoy Krishnadas Brahmachari from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday. He was going to Chittagong. ISKCON members present at the scene said that the DB police did not show any arrest warrant. They just said they wanted to talk. After this they took him to the microbus.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) Additional Commissioner of Police Rezaul Karim Malik said Chinmoy Krishnadas was arrested following a police request. Chinmoy Das will be handed over to the concerned police station for legal proceedings

Chinmay Krishnadas Prabhu, a religious leader affiliated with Bangladesh ISKCON, was constantly raising issues of violence against Hindus.

Accused of hoisting saffron flag on Azadi Pillar

On October 25, Natan Jagran Manch held a rally at Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong with 8 point demands. Chinmay Krishnadas also addressed this matter. Meanwhile, some people hoisted the saffron flag on the Azadi Pillar in New Market Chowk. Aami Sanatani was written on this flag.

After the rally, on October 31, Begum Khaleda Zia's BNP Party leader Feroze Khan filed a sedition case against 19 people, including Chinmoy Krishnadas, in Chittagong. He is accused of insulting the national flag.

An ISKCON temple was attacked

An ISKCON temple in Khulna district was targeted on August 6 during the power struggle in Bangladesh. In which idols of Lord Jagannath were burnt. After this attack, Chinmay Das said that three other temples in Chittagong are also under threat. The Hindu community is working together to protect them.

Das said that Hindus are taking refuge in India via Tripura and Bengal to escape the violence. Chinmoy Das has been raising the issue of security of Hindu temples for a long time.

More than 77 temples of ISKCON in Bangladesh

There are more than 77 ISKCON temples in Bangladesh. Almost every district of the country has an ISKCON temple. It is estimated that more than 50 thousand people are connected with it.
