Violent protests by Imran supporters in Pakistan: 6 security personnel killed, over 100 injured; Orders to shoot demonstrators on sight

Clashes broke out between protesters and police on the Srinagar highway in Pakistan. This video has been released by Imran Khan's party PTI on social media.

​​​​​​​The protest that started on Sunday over the demand for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan has turned violent. According to Geo TV, hundreds of Imran Khan's supporters have entered Islamabad. The army blocked the highway leading to the capital by placing shipping containers, but the protesters removed the barricades with the help of lifting machines and some heavy machinery.

Demonstrators attacked security forces on the Srinagar highway, killing 4 soldiers and 2 policemen. 5 jawans and 2 policemen have also been injured in this incident. According to the report, more than 100 policemen have been injured in the violence so far. Most of them are in serious condition. Imran Khan's party claimed that its workers were also injured in the violent protests.

Article 245 has been implemented to prevent violence in the capital Islamabad. Demonstrators have been ordered to be shot on sight. The Pakistan Army has been empowered to impose curfew in any area to maintain law and order.

Naqvi said that the protestors should go to Sangjani area of ​​Islamabad instead of D Chowk and protest. They should not take any step that would compel them to take drastic measures. We will not hesitate to take any action if they cross the limit.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed his displeasure over the death of jawans. He has ordered to identify the culprits and give them severe punishment. He said that the attack on security personnel in the name of peaceful protest was reprehensible.

Jio TV has quoted sources as saying that Imran Khan has agreed to hold the protest somewhere else instead of D Chowk, but Bushra Bibi has refused to do so. Bushra Bibi says that protest cannot be held at any other place except D Chowk.

Bushra Bibi said in a video message that the march will not end until Imran Khan is released. She will fight till her last breath. Bushra said that this is not only Imran Khan's fight, but the country's fight.

There are more than 200 cases against Imran Khan

Imran Khan is lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail. A local court in Islamabad convicted him in the Toshakha case on August 5, 2023. After this he was arrested from his house at Zaman Park in Islamabad and jailed. Since then more than 200 cases have been registered against him.
