493 players to bid on in IPL auction today: eyes on Du Plessis, Sundar and Bhuvneshwar; Know the top-5 Indian players of the first day

The second day of the IPL Mega Auction will begin at 3.30 pm. On Monday, franchises will bid on 493 players for 132 spots. All eyes will be on African batsman Faf du Plessis, Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

A total of 72 players were sold on the first day on Sunday, with the most expensive being Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow for Rs 27 crore. While Shreyas Iyer was given Rs. Bought for 26.75 crores. At the same time, Kolkata Knight Riders bid Rs 23.75 crore for all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will once again be seen playing together in Chennai Super Kings.

Top 5 players in the auction on day one All the top five players on the first day of the auction were Indians. Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player in IPL history. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and LSG bid heavily for former Delhi captain Pant. Finally, Delhi were asked if they wanted to buy Pant with a right-to-match option, Delhi said yes. But Lucknow Rs. 27 crore bid and after this Delhi backed out.

Last season's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) champion Shreyas Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Shreyas played an innings of 130 runs off 57 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 23 November.

Kolkata have re-inducted Venkatesh Iyer into the squad. KKR bought him for Rs 23.75 crore. With this he has become the third most expensive Indian player in IPL history. Punjab bought Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 18 crore. With this he became the most expensive spinner in IPL history. Chahal is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. He made his IPL debut in 2013, from then till 2024 he took 205 wickets in 160 matches.

Openers Warner, Bairstow and Pedicle remained unsold In the third set, two capped batters remained unsold. No team bid for Australian batsman David Warner and Indian batsman Devdutt Padikal in the auction. Punjab has bought African captain Aden Markram for a base price of Rs 2 crore. No one has bought England opener Jonny Bairstow. Last season David Warner played for Delhi, Padikalal for Lucknow and Bairstow for Punjab.
