Producer Mansoor Khan recently spoke about the film 'Josh'. He said that he initially wanted to cast Kajol as Shah Rukh's sister in the film, but the two had already become famous as a romantic couple. In such a situation, Mansoor cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the role of Shah Rukh Khan's sister.
In a conversation on India Now & How, Mansoor Khan explained why he decided to cast Shah Rukh and Aishwarya as brother and sister in 'Josh'. Mansoor Khan said, 'Josh' also had a brother-sister role played by Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya. However, I wanted to cast Kajol instead of Aishwarya. I also told him the story of the film. But as soon as Kajol heard the story, she angrily got up and left. Then I asked him, are you doing a film? So said no, I want Max's role and then she left.
Mansoor Khan said, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan had previously done many other films apart from 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', which created their image as a romantic couple. Casting Kajol in the role of a sister in such a situation was wrong.
According to Mansoor Khan, he was afraid that no one would want to play Max's sister, but Aishwarya happily agreed to do the film. She was completely professional. He never complained.
Mansoor Khan continued, 'I always thought of Shahrukh for the role of Max and wanted to cast Aamir in the role of Chandrachur Singh. When I narrated the story to Aamir, he thought he would play Max. Then I spoke to Shah Rukh, he was very happy. But when I asked him are you doing a film? So he said he won't, because he knew I was taking Aamir in the film. However, it was not like that, I wanted to cast only Shah Rukh in the film.
'Josh' was released in the year 2000 The movie Josh was released in the year 2000. Shah Rukh and Aishwarya became siblings in this film. To make Shah Rukh's eyes look like Aishwarya's, Mansoor Khan made Shah Rukh wear contact lenses throughout the film.
