The practice of casting couch in Bollywood is decades old. Often actors or actresses are seen making shocking revelations about this. A director-producer or an actor is accused of taking advantage on the pretext of getting them to work in films. Due to which a lot of infamy is caused.
Director Imtiaji Ali spoke on the casting couch Film director Imtiaz Ali has given his opinion on the whole matter, which according to Imtiaz, who was present at the IFFI event, is not very helpful. He said that he also hears many stories where the fear of compromise in return for work has settled in people's minds.
In addition, Imtiaz said – I have been a director in the Hindi film industry for 15-20 years. I have heard a lot about the casting couch or what you are saying that when a girl comes for work, she feels scared. So it is not that the girl who compromises will surely get the role. There will be many exploiters. If a girl can say no and respect herself, then any other man will respect her.
'He who compromises also compromises with career' Because I and many others also wonder if we are taking this person seriously or not. Do I have enough respect for the guy to cast him? It is a misconception that if you compromise, your chances in the film industry will increase. I have seen that whoever compromises also compromises with his career.
'Crew members kicked out due to misbehavior' Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali's movie 'Highway' was released in 2014. Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda were seen in the lead roles in this film. Director Imtiaz Ali has shared an incident related to the film. On stage at the International Film Festival, Imtiaz Ali revealed that during his career, he has removed crew members from his sets at least three times due to their misbehaviour.
The strange incident with Aaliya Imtiaz Ali said, There have been three times in my life when I have kicked out crew members from my sets. I am happy that this has only happened three times. I remember this happened once on the sets of 'Highway'. We were shooting. With Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda on the highway near a village and at that time (2013) there was no proper arrangement of a vanity van for Alia to change clothes. Once I had to send a boy back from the sets because he was trying to be around Alia during this time, but times have changed now.
Women are safe in Bollywood industry Along with this, Imtiaz also talked about the safety of women on the sets. He also mentioned Kareena Kapoor and gave an example explaining that she was quite safe on the sets of Jab We Met. Imtiaz said – I have a journey. I have worked in small town, big city too. I have also done theatre, then I came to films. I think the way the Mumbai film industry treats women is admirable. Even if 200 people work in a film unit, it is very safe.
