Voting begins on 38 Jharkhand assembly seats: 528 candidates including CM Hemant, Kalpana, Marandi in last phase; 148 Criminal case against

Voting in 38 assembly seats of Jharkhand has started from 7 am on Wednesday. Voting will continue till 5 pm. Polling at 31 sensitive booths will be completed at 4 pm.

Voting in the last and second phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections has started today on 38 seats in 12 districts, which will continue till 5 pm. Voting will end at 4 pm at 31 booths out of 14,218 polling booths. It will include 1.23 crore voters. Out of the 38 seats in the second phase, 18 seats belong to Santhal, 18 seats belong to North Chotanagpur and two seats belong to Ranchi district.

According to the Election Commission, 528 candidates are in the fray in the second phase. Out of which 55 are women candidates. 127 are millionaires, while 148 candidates have criminal cases registered against them.

CM Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren, former CM Babulal Marandi and opposition leader Amar Bauri, minister Irfan Ansari are contesting in this phase. The result will come on November 23.

Out of 38 seats in this phase, BJP is contesting in 32 seats, NDA in 6 seats and AJSU in 6 seats. Whereas, JMM is contesting on 20 seats, Congress on 12, RJD on 2 and ML on 4 seats in India block.

Maximum 65 Independent Candidates Crorepati The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has prepared a report based on the affidavits of 522 candidates of the second phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections. According to the ADR report, the average property of 522 units in Phase-II is Rs. 2.53 crores.

That means 24% out of 522 i.e. 127 candidates are millionaires. He has assets of one crore or more. If we look at the party statistics, 23 out of 32 BJP candidates are millionaires.

A criminal case was registered against 174 candidates According to the ADR report, criminal cases have been registered against 148 candidates i.e. 28% out of 522. At the same time there are 23% i.e. 122 candidates against whom serious cases like murder, kidnapping are registered. A case of murder has been registered against 3 candidates. At the same time, a case of attempted murder has been registered against 34 candidates. 12 candidates have declared cases related to violence against women. A case of rape has been registered against one of these 12 candidates.

Party: JMM

Leader: Hemant Soren

Hemant is the current CM of Jharkhand. Before the assembly elections, he had to spend 140 days in jail in a land scam case. After getting bail, he became CM again. As soon as the election is announced, Hemant Soren is chanting 'Jail Ka Badla Jeet Se'.

Hemant himself belongs to the Santhal caste. After going to prison he grew a beard to the point where he looked somewhat like his father Shibu Soren. In such a situation the people of Santhal-Pargana who worship Shibu Soren even today are directly associated with Hemant.

Leader: Kalpana Soren

Kalpana Soren is contesting from Gandeya seat in Giridih district. In the by-election held in June 2024, he defeated BJP's Dilip Verma from the same seat by 27 thousand votes. This time Kalpana is going among the women voters with 'Maiyan Samman Yojana'. She is holding 3 to 4 public meetings daily. He has held more than 70 public meetings so far.

Kalpana is promising a separate Sarna Dharma Code for tribals, which is having a major impact on tribal voters. JMM seems to benefit directly from it.

Party: BJP

Leader: Babulal Marandi

BJP state president and Jharkhand's first chief minister Babulal Marandi is contesting from Dhanwar seat in Giridih district. He also won from here in 2019. After that he was in the field on the banner of his party Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. Later he merged the party with BJP.

The BJP under the leadership of Babulal Marandi has laid a strong siege against the JMM. First Champai broke Soren's party. Then JDU and LJP (Ram Vilas) were added in alliance with AJSU. BJP has increased its strength in tribal seats by giving tickets to relatives of 4 former chief ministers of Jharkhand.

Party: JLKM

Leader: Jairam Mahato

Jharkhand Democratic Revolutionary Front (JLKM) president Jairam Mahato is contesting from Barmo Dumri seat. The state has more than 15% Kurmi voters, the largest vote bank after the tribal community. Jairam Mahato hails from the Kurmi community. They can create trouble for BJP and JMM in Giridih, Dhanbad and Bokaro seats.

Jairam Mahato is raising issues like paper leak, employment and use of local languages ​​in competitive exams.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said that the total number of voters in the state is 2.6 crore. Out of which 1.29 crore are women voters. While the number of male voters is 1.39 crore.

There are 29 thousand 562 polling stations in the state. Out of which 5 thousand 42 polling stations are in urban areas. There are 24 thousand 520 rural polling stations. 881 voters will vote in each polling station.

The Assembly has 81 seats, of which 44 are general seats, 9 are for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 28 are for Scheduled Tribes (ST).

Jharkhand has 14 Lok Sabha seats. In the 2024 elections, BJP won 8 seats, JMM 3, Congress 2 and AJSU one.
