The situation has worsened due to violence in Manipur. Meanwhile, a meeting of 27 MLAs of the ruling NDA and the National People's Party (NPP) was held on Monday. In which a resolution was passed that major action should be taken against Kuki terrorists within 7 days. It also said that Kuki militants were responsible for the deaths of 6 women and children in Jiribam.
The meeting decided that the Center will review the AFSPA implemented in the state. The state government issued its order on November 14. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate the murders of 6 Maitai women and children in Jiribam and one Maitai woman in Bishnupur.
Congress leader P Chidambaram said-
Sending 5000 troops to solve the problem of Manipur is not a solution. Chief Minister Biren Singh should be removed immediately. Kuki, Maitai and Naga can live in one state, provided they are given regional autonomy.
The resolution was passed in a meeting between Chief Minister Biren Singh and MLAs.
Curfew, internet shutdown in several districts of Manipur Violence is affecting 7 out of 9 districts of Manipur. The Manipur government extended the ban on internet-mobile services in 7 districts Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Churachandpur till November 20.
Schools, colleges and other institutions in all 7 districts have been ordered to remain closed till November 20. Security forces are patrolling the streets. Security has been beefed up at CM Biren Singh's residence and Raj Bhavan. It has been decided to send an additional 50 companies (5 thousand soldiers) of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) to Manipur.
Why has the situation deteriorated in Manipur? On November 11, security forces killed 10 Kuki militants in Jiribam. During the encounter, Kuki terrorists kidnapped 6 Maitai (3 women, 3 children). Five bodies were found on 15–16 November, with one body found on Monday 18 November.
On November 16, the houses of CM N Biren Singh and BJP MLAs were attacked. At the same time, 19 BJP MLAs, including some ministers, wrote to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) demanding the removal of CM Biren Singh.
The situation worsened after a Maitai protester was killed in police firing in Jiribam district on the night of November 17. CRPF DG Anish Dayal Singh reached Manipur on November 17 to take stock of the violence.

- November 8: A woman was killed by terrorists in Jiribam. The body was cut into pieces and set on fire. An FIR was registered in Jiribam police station regarding this incident.
- November 11: A CRPF outpost was attacked at Jakurdhor Karong in Jiribam. 10 Kuki terrorists were killed by security forces. An FIR was registered at the Borobekara police station regarding the attack.
- November 11: Kuki militants set fire to houses and shops in Borobekara area. 6 people (3 women and 3 children) were kidnapped and killed. A case has been registered in this regard at Borobekara Police Station.
Khadge said – the people of Manipur will not forgive Modi Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that BJP wants Manipur to burn. It is doing politics of hatred and division. 17 people have lost their lives in the state since November 7. Violence broke out in several other districts. You (PM Modi) failed in the case of Manipur. If you ever go to Manipur in future, the people there will never forgive you. They will never forget that you left them to them.
Violence in Manipur in November
- 11 November: Militants fired from a hill on farmers working in the fields in Manipur's Yaingangpokpi Shantikhongban area, killing one farmer and injuring several others.
- November 9-10: The shooting incident took place on November 10 in Sansabi, Sabungkhok Khunau and Thamnapokpi areas of Imphal East district. A 34-year-old woman was killed by militants in Saiton of Bishnupur district on November 9. The woman was working in the field at the time of the incident.
- 8 November: Six houses were burnt down by armed militants in Jairawan village of Jiribam district. Villagers alleged that the attackers also opened fire. A woman died in this incident. The deceased woman has been identified as Josangkim Humar (age 31). He has 3 children. Villagers alleged that the attackers belonged to the Maitai community. After the incident, many people left the house and ran away.
- 7 November: A woman belonging to the Humar caste was killed by suspected militants. They also set fire to houses in Jiribam. In the police case, her husband has alleged that she was raped before being burnt alive. A day later a woman from the Maitai community was shot dead by suspected Kuki insurgents.
Violence continues in Manipur for almost 500 days It has been almost 500 days since the ongoing violence between Kuki-Maitai. During this period 237 people died, more than 1500 people were injured, 60 thousand people left their homes and live in relief camps. About 11 thousand FIRs were registered and 500 people were arrested.
During this time there were incidents like naked parade of women, gang rape, burning alive and throat slitting. Even now Manipur is divided into two parts. Kuki in hill districts and Maitai in plain districts. Boundaries are drawn between the two, crossing of which means death.
School- mobile internet was stopped. The state government banned the internet for 5 days on September 10 following a sudden rise in violent incidents in Manipur. However, the ban on broadband internet was lifted on 12 September.
Understand the cause of Manipur violence in 4 points… The population of Manipur is about 38 lakhs. There are three main communities here. Maitai, Naga and Kuki. Maitais are mostly Hindus. The Nga-Kuki follow Christianity. falls under ST category. Their population is about 50%. The Maitai community dominates the Imphal Valley, which covers about 10% of the state. The Naga-Kuki population is about 34 percent. These people live in almost 90% of the state.
How the controversy started: The Maitai community is demanding that they too be given tribal status. The community filed a petition in the Manipur High Court for this. The community's contention was that Manipur had merged with India in 1949. Before that they got only tribal status. After this, the High Court recommended to the state government that Maitai be included in the Scheduled Tribe (ST).
What is Maitai's argument: The Maitai tribe believes that years ago their kings called the Kukis from Myanmar to fight in the war. After that he became a permanent resident. These people cut forests for employment and started opium cultivation. Due to which Manipur has become a triangle of drug smuggling. All this is happening openly. He formed an armed group to fight the Naga people.
Why Naga-Kuki is against: The other two castes are against giving reservation to Maitai community. They say 40 of the state's 60 assembly seats are already in the Maitai-dominated Imphal Valley. In such a situation, if Maitai gets reservation in ST category, their rights will be divided.
What are political equations: Out of 60 MLAs in Manipur, 40 MLAs belong to Maitai and 20 MLAs belong to Naga-Kuki tribe. So far, only two of the 12 CMs have come from the tribe.
