Haryana's Anshul takes 10 wickets in an innings against Kerala: 3rd bowler to do so in Ranji; Kerala were all out for 291 runs in the first innings

Haryana's Anshul Kamboj took 10 wickets in the first innings against Kerala in the fifth round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He became the third bowler in the history of the tournament to take 10 wickets in an innings. In the Ranji match being played in Lahli against Kerala, he scored 49 runs in the first innings and sent all the players to the pavilion.

Cambodia sent eight Kerala players to the pavilion by the end of the Ranji second day's play on Thursday. On Friday morning, he took his ninth wicket by dismissing Thampi in the first over and completed his 10th wicket by dismissing Shaun Rodger, which saw Kerala bowled out for 291 in the first innings.

In Ranji before Cambodia, two players achieved the feat of taking 10 wickets in the first innings. Bengal's Premangsu Mohan Chatterjee was the first bowler to achieve this feat in the 1956-57 season. While Rajasthan's Pradeep Sundaram took all 10 wickets in an innings against Vidarbha in the 1985-86 season.

Anshul Kamboj took all 10 wickets for 49 runs in the Ranji match against Kerala.

Sixth bowler to do so in Cambodia first class Kamboj is only the sixth Indian bowler to take 10 wickets in first class, joined by veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble, Subhash Gupte and Devashish Mohanty on the list.

Represented India-A in the Emerging Asia Cup Cambodia represented India-A in the Emerging Asia Cup held last month. He bowled at an economy rate of 10 and also took 4 wickets in the three matches played in the tournament. Cambodia also performed brilliantly in the Duleep Trophy played this year. He was the highest wicket taker.

Playing for India-C, he bowled in 3 matches with an economy of 3.19 and took 16 wickets. He took eight wickets in his second match in the tournament. In doing so, he became the third fast bowler to take eight wickets in a Duleep Trophy match. Before him were Mohanty (10/46) and Ashok Dinda (8/123).

Kamboj came into the limelight during the last domestic season and was picked by Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024 season. Last year, Cambodia was instrumental in helping Haryana win the Vijay Trophy for the first time. He was among the highest wicket takers with 17 wickets in 10 matches. Cambodia has taken 23 wickets in 15 List-A matches.
