India successfully tests Pinak rocket launcher: capable of firing 12 rockets in 44 seconds; Rajnath said- now the army will be stronger

India has successfully tested the Pinak guided weapon system. The test was conducted by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

The system is completely in-house developed. This system can fire 12 rockets in just 44 seconds, i.e. one rocket every 4 seconds. During the trial its firepower, accuracy and ability to attack multiple targets simultaneously were tested.

The Ministry of Defense said that the test was conducted at three different locations. A total of 24 rockets were fired from the two launchers. All these rockets managed to hit their targets successfully.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and the Army on this success. He said that with the addition of this new system, our army will become stronger.

Guided Pinaka system has been developed by DRDO scientists. Several companies also contributed to its creation, such as Munitions India Limited and Tata Advance Systems. DRDO Chief Sameer V. Kamat also expressed happiness over this success and said that the system is now ready to join the army.

In February 2024, the strength of the indigenous Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System was demonstrated at the Pokhran Field Firing Range.

What is Pinak Rocket Launcher System? The Pinak rocket launcher system is named after Lord Shiva's bow 'Pinak'. It has been developed by DRDO's Pune-based Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE).

Its battery consists of six launch vehicles. It has loader systems, radar and network based systems and links with the command post.

Currently there are 2 versions. The first is Mark I, which has a range of 40 km and the second is Mark-II, which has a range of 75 km. There are plans to increase its range to 120-300 km.

The Pinak rocket launcher system consists of 12 214 mm rockets. Pinak rocket's speed makes it the most dangerous. Its speed is 5,757.70 kilometers per hour, which means it attacks at a speed of 1.61 kilometers per second. In the year 2023, 24 tests were conducted.

  2. In 2000, formation of a separate regiment for Pinak began. On 19 August 2020, the new variant of Pinak was successfully tested in Pokhran.
  3. The American HIMARS missile is one of many advanced weapons that forced the Russian army to retreat in the Ukraine war. But, Himmers has overtaken India's Pinake. Pinak has an operational range of 800 km, while Himars has a range of 450 km.
  4. Similarly, PINAC has a firing capacity of 12 rockets at a time, while HIMARS has a firing capacity of 6 rockets at a time. Pinak of India is ahead of American Himmers in both these respects.
