Will Trump now stop the Russia-Ukraine war?: After winning the presidential election, Trump calls Putin, appeals for peace; After Zelensky, Trump spoke to Putin

Donald Trump has spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time after winning the US presidential election. According to a Reuters report, there was a phone conversation between the two leaders on November 7, the details of which have now come to light.

After winning the US election, Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to sources, the two leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine. Donald Trump appealed to Putin not to escalate the war.

People familiar with the matter said the two leaders talked about maintaining peace in Ukraine. Trump advised Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and also reminded him of the US military presence in Europe.

Trump spoke from his resort in Florida. At the beginning of the conversation, Putin congratulated Trump on his election victory and said that Russia is ready for dialogue with the United States. Meanwhile, the two leaders also discussed on maintaining peace in Europe. However, neither the US nor Russia has confirmed the talks.

Trump had earlier also claimed to immediately stop the war in Ukraine. Yet they never explained how they would prevent the war. According to the report, Trump has indicated that he wants to keep territory won by Russia to prevent war.

Trump first said in May 2023 that Russians and Ukrainians were dying in the war. They will end this war within 24 hours.

Speaking to NBC News earlier on Thursday, Trump said that since his election victory, he has spoken to the leaders of 70 countries. This includes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the report, Ukrainian officials have also been briefed on the conversation between Trump and Putin.

Steven Cheung, Trump's communications director, said in an email that the former president had scored a historic victory. Leaders around the world know that Trump will take America to greater heights again. Because of this, he has started talks to build a stronger relationship with Trump.

Trump is talking privately with leaders around the world

According to the report, Trump is having personal conversations with world leaders. They are not talking to anyone with the help of the State Department or the US government.

Indeed, Trump has yet to sign an agreement with the General Service Administration. This is a necessary process after becoming President. In fact, many of Trump's calls were leaked during his first term. Since then, Trump has shown little trust in government officials.

Putin congratulated Trump two days after his victory

Putin congratulated Trump on November 5, two days after his victory. The Russian president called Trump a 'courageous person' and said he had been 'harassed from all sides' during his first term. After the war started in 2022, Russia destroyed the communication network in Ukraine. Since then, Musk's Starlink system has been providing internet in Ukraine.
