Marrying Mazhar Khan was my biggest mistake: Zeenat told Aman- I knew he was cheating on me; However, this relationship lasted for 12 years

Zeenat Aman married actor Mazhar Khan in 1985, which was the peak of her career. However, he faced many difficulties in his married life. In the very first year, he realized that he had taken a wrong decision. But still Zeenat maintained this relationship for 12 years for both her sons.

In an interview with Simi Garewal, Zeenat Aman spoke about the tough times in her married life. He said, 'I got married to Mazhar Khan in 1985. Within the first year of marriage, I realized that I had made a mistake. But the decision to marry Mazhar was my own and that too against everyone's will, so I thought I would try to rectify it now. I'm not saying it was good for them either. Things were very difficult from the first year itself. First, I was pregnant and Mazhar was not with me. Second, there was a big article published in Stardust magazine at that time, which said that Mazhar was with another woman, which was also true.

Zeenat said, 'When my son was born, I thought I should end this marriage. We discussed this too. But then I thought that my child should have a chance, so I decided to keep the marriage. Tried everything possible to improve this relationship.

Zeenat said, 'When my younger son turned five, I thought of working, but before that Mazhar fell ill. After this, I struggled for his health and life for five years, which was a very difficult time.

Zeenat said, 'I tried everything possible. We went to every hospital in Mumbai. I learned to give injections, learned to dress, I even went abroad and found the best doctor. When that problem was solved and everything was fine, it had a huge impact on me. I was on the verge of a mental breakdown. I haven't had anyone in 12 years to ask me 'how are you?'
