Kamal Haasan turns 70: Wins President's Award at age 6, daughter calls Appa a 'unique hero'

Superstar Kamal Haasan has turned 70 today. Kamal Haasan has earned a lot of name in the industry. He made his mark from South to Bollywood. He made headlines for his terrific action and romance with young actresses. Kamal Haasan has many records in his name. At the age of just 6, he won the President's Award. On this special occasion, the superstar's daughter Shruti Haasan has posted a special post in the name of her father.

Actress daughter Shruti Haasan penned an emotional note for her 'appa' and called him a 'unique diamond'. Shruti posted a picture of herself and her father at the gym on social media platform Instagram. In the photo, Kamal is seen wearing athleisure, while the actress is seen fully dressed up. However, their faces are not visible because their backs are to the camera.

In the caption, he wrote, 'Happy birthday Appa. You are a precious diamond and walking with you is one of my favorite things in life. I know you don't believe in God, but you will always be His chosen child.'

Shruti said, 'He is always excited to see the magical things he (daddy) does.' The actress said she wishes we celebrate many more birthdays and dreams come true. I love you so much, Pa.'

Notably, Kamal Haasan has worked in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Bengali films. Kamal Haasan, considered one of the most legendary and honored actors of Indian cinema, has been honored with the National Film Award, 9 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, four Nandi Awards, one President's Award.

Kamal Haasan has been awarded Kalaimamani Award in 1984, Padma Shri in 1990, Padma Bhushan in 2014 and Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier) in 2016. Kamal started his career as a child artist with 'Kalathur Kanamma' in 1960 when he was only 6 years old. He was awarded the President's Award for his best performance in this film.

Actor S. Also worked in 'Indian 2' directed by Shankar. It was the second part of the Indian film series and a sequel to the 1996 film Indian. He reprized the role of an old freedom fighter fighting corruption. Kamal will soon be seen in 'Indian 3' and 'Thug Life'.
