Bus plunges 150 feet into valley in Uttarakhand: 15 feared dead, 42 passengers on board; Police and SDRF attended the spot

The bus is heavily damaged. Local people along with police and SDRF team are doing rescue work.

A passenger bus plunged into a valley in Uttarakhand's Almora on Monday morning. 15 people died in the accident. While more than 25 passengers have been injured. The accident took place near Kupi in Almora. There were 42 passengers in the bus. According to the police, the death toll may rise.

Disaster Management Officer Vineet Pal said – Rescue teams from Salt and Ranikhet have been sent to the spot. In which there are reports of 15 deaths. The exact number of dead will be known only after the rescue. Meanwhile, SDM Salt Sanjay Kumar said that more than 5 people have died so far.

The bus was going from Kinath to Ramnagar. In which most of the local people were on board. Near Kupi, the driver lost control of the bus and plunged into a ravine about 150 feet deep. The bus was heavily damaged in the accident.

Police said the bus belonged to Garhwal Motors. Preliminary investigation revealed that the bus was very old. The reason behind the accident is currently being investigated. The first priority is to rescue the injured. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has also expressed grief over the tragedy. He has instructed the officials to quickly carry out relief and rescue operations.

As the bus fell into the valley, several passengers were thrown from the bus and fell away. Almora SP has reached the spot. Police force has also been dispatched from Nainital. SDRF team has reached the spot.
