44 lakh devotees reached Char Dham so far: Kedarnath-Yamunotri gates closed from today, Badrinath can have darshan till November 17

Kedarnath temple was decorated with 10 quintals of flowers before the kapat was closed.

The process of closing the cupboards of four Dhams in Uttarakhand has started from Saturday. So far 44 lakh devotees have visited four abodes.

The cupboards of Gangotri Dham at Uttarkashi were closed yesterday on November 2 at 12:14 PM. Today at 8.30 am, the Kedarnath shutters were closed to the tune of army bands and traditional music. Also, the gate of Yamunotri Dham will also be closed at 12.04 pm today. Darshan can be done in Badrinath till November 17.

Kedarnath's cupboards were opened on 10 May. Till November 1, 16 lakh 15 thousand 642 devotees had darshan here. So far more than 13 lakh devotees have reached Badrinath Dham. 7.10 lakh devotees have visited Yamunotri and 8.11 lakh devotees have visited Gangotri. So far 44 lakh people have visited Char Dham.

Army bands and traditional instruments were played during the closure of Kedarnath kapat.

A large number of devotees arrived for darshan on Saturday, the day before the kapat was closed.

Then the devotees had a darshan of the Panchmukhi festival idol. After circumambulating the temple, the panchamukhi festival idol of Lord Kedarnath, doli, was installed in the temple premises.

Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) media in-charge Dr. Harish Gaur said that after the doors are closed, Panchmukhi Utsav Murti of Baba Kedarnath will reach the winter abode of Shri Omkareshwar Mandir Ukhimath after traveling to various stops. Kedarnath temple is decorated with ten quintals of flowers for Kapat Bandi.

For the first time, the number of devotees was limited, only 15 thousand people could visit Kedarnath every day.

  • Last year, a record 5.5 lakh people reached Char Dham, disrupting the system. This time the Uttarakhand Police and Tourism Department have limited the daily number of devotees in the Char Dham Yatra.
  • Last year, more than 60,000 pilgrims used to visit the four Dhams every day. According to Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve, this time a limit of 15 thousand devotees has been kept in Kedarnath in a day.
  • 16 thousand people will be able to visit Badrinath Dham, 9 thousand devotees will be able to visit Yamunotri and 11 thousand people will be able to visit Gangotri every day. That means 51 thousand people will be able to see the four abodes every day.
  • For the first time more than 400 doctors have been deployed on the Char Dham Yatra route. This includes 256 emergency medical officers and specialist doctors.

The gates of Gangotri Dham at Uttarkashi district were closed at 12:14 pm on November 2. Gangotri Dham Har Har Gange, Jai Ma Ganga slogans were raised on this occasion.

Accompanied by an army band and the tune of traditional music, Mother Ganga's doli departs for her winter abode of Mukhba (Mukhimath). Now darshan of Mother Ganga will be in Mukhba during winter stay for 6 months.

Suresh Semwal, secretary of the Gangotri Mandir Committee, said that Mother Ganga's Utsav Dolli stayed at the Markandeyapuri Devi Temple for a night's rest. Bhajans and Kirtans were performed.
