Russia fines Google 620 times global GDP: court fined for shutting down YouTube channel; Google declared bankrupt in Russia

A Russian court has imposed a fine of 20 trillion dollars on Google. This amount is 620 times more than the GDP of the entire world. This means that if the GDP of all the countries of the world is added 620 times, this amount will be accumulated only.

In fact, Google banned 17 pro-Russian YouTube channels in 2020. Channels filed a case against him in court. During a hearing in 2020, the court imposed a fine of 1 lakh rubles (Russian currency) per day until the ban on the channels is lifted.

9 months time was given for this. If the company does not pay the fine during this period, it will double every 24 hours. Now this fine has reached 20 trillion dollars.

This is the whole matter

Citizens of Russia also demonstrated outside the US Embassy in Moscow to protest the shutdown of the YouTube channel.

The case began in 2020 when Google removed 17 pro-Russian channels from YouTube. The government channel Russia-1 was also involved in this. After this, Russia-1 anchor Margarita Simonyan applied to the court. In the decision, the court fixed a fine of 1 lakh rubles per day.

Google was declared bankrupt in Russia in 2022, but services such as Google's search engine and YouTube are still available in Russia. Russia has banned X and Facebook, but Google has not yet been banned. However, Google has reduced its services in Russia.

Such a huge fine is the largest in the legal history of the world. Google has said that this will not affect their services.

These countries have also fined Google

In the last 10 years, various countries have fined a total of 14 billion dollars (11 thousand 620 crore rupees) on Google. India also imposed a fine of Rs 1338 crore on Google on October 21, 2022 for unfair business practices. Even in Britain, Google has been accused of unfairly taking advantage of the digital advertising market.
