Black and White: Some Vikram Samvat New Year Resolutions

Many people sit down and make various resolutions at the end of the year. For example, in the new year, I will give up alcohol, give up tobacco, or give up junk food, or I will get up early (or earlier) every morning and go for an hour's walk. One may also resolve (depending on one's 'physical wealth') that this year I will lose twenty, thirty or fifty kilos. However, there are some resolutions to suggest, such as Vikram Samvat at the beginning of the new year, which, if implemented, can benefit those around them or those who are affected by their thoughts more than the people taking the resolution. A list of some such resolutions. *** Resolution Number One: We will not spread negativity on social media. Charles Darwin may have said that we are descended from apes, but we don't jump on social media like a sword in a monkey's hand. We will refrain from the activity of mentally torturing people by reckless use of social media. Not only on social media, but also everywhere else. Let's give up the evil spirit of taking pleasure in causing trouble to others. In short, we will stop drinking people's blood. Pledge Number Two: We will refrain from any form of discrimination and raise our voice where we see any inequality. We will not tolerate any discrimination against us. We will not try to coerce anyone and we will not coerce anyone. Commitment Number Three: We will not engage in mafia relationships with family members, relatives, friends or acquaintances. Do not associate with them, including the dangerous asterisks, terms and conditions that appear in such deceptive advertisements. Like 'if you want to be in a relationship with us, you have to do what we say.' That 'you have to live as we say.' Either 'we tell you to have relations with them and we say no to you not to have relations with them.' We will stay away from such evil and crooked activity. Pledge Number Four: We will keep our distance from any form of blackmail or emotional blackmail. We should neither blackmail anyone nor succumb to anyone who tries to blackmail us. We will remember whether anyone else knows it or not, but the CCTV cameras of the universe are set on the activity we do within the four walls. Pledge Number Five: We will not blindly accept the hypocrite bawas or babas who have accumulated billions of rupees and give lectures and say 'Samsar hai Asar', and instead of giving money to enrich the financial empire of these babas worth billions of rupees, we needy. We will help people financially, we will do anything for the people around us. And yes, instead of being a blind follower of such Khepani bavas-babas, we will also question them whenever there is a controversy about them, so that they do not get a chance to make a mafia out of their multi-billion rupees financial empire. Pledge Number Six (This Pledge is for political leaders who are stubborn or corrupt): We will live believing that one day we too will be put on a pyre or buried in a graveyard (and we will continue to harbor enmity under the illusion that we are the mistress of this creation). Before going up, we have to go to jail or maybe get pierced by a bullet) so we should not live with the goal of collecting hundreds or thousands or millions of rupees, but if we can, we will do some good work for the people, try to be a little helpful to the people and help the people. We will not show our face only in five years (or only during by-elections). Resolution number seven (this is for the film stars who consider themselves 'bhilogs'): We will not be like the sophisticated Dawn and pretend we are also eternally human. Let's not be under the illusion that we can end anyone's career or ruin anyone. Because if a 'brother' whose hand is above us is pierced with bullets by some topori-like shooters, what kind of garden are we? We will remember that we are like puppets of this universe. Pledge Number Eight (This Pledge is for the rich and any man of power): We will not exploit anyone and we will prevent those around us from abusing our money or our power. Not only will we stop, we will kick him on a certain part of his body and throw him out of our association, party, organization, office or company. Pledge Number Nine: (This Pledge is for Police Officers and Government Officials of all walks of life who regard themselves as subjects of the King-Maharaja and the people. Exceptionally good officers do not need to take this Pledge). The public is not our servant, but we will behave with them remembering that we are public servants. And this last resolution to all the citizens of our country: We will not litter the village roads, society compounds or public roads of the city and throw leaves anywhere, from empty gutkha pouches, either roti or other food items to used sanitary pads or condoms, chewing gum residues or Let's not prove by throwing chocolate wrappers that we are not worthy to live in the civil society even in the time of primitive man!
