After the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in West Bengal, many cases of rape on patients have come to light. A woman living in Hassanabad area alleged that she went to Dr. Noor Alam Sardar's clinic for treatment. The doctor raped her after giving her an anesthetic injection.
The doctor also took obscene photographs of the unconscious woman to blackmail the victim. After this, he threatened the woman and demanded Rs 4 lakh and said that if she does not give the money, he will make the pictures viral.
Police said that a case has been registered after the woman's complaint. A few hours after the FIR, the accused doctor was arrested and produced before the court. The court sent him to police custody. We are now inquiring about it. According to a report in India Today, the doctor raped the woman several times.
The woman did not want to take the injection The woman lives alone in Hassanabad area of North 24 Parganas. Her husband lives abroad. The woman called her husband and told about the incident of rape. Only after the husband returned to India, both of them lodged a complaint with the police.
The husband said that his wife did not want to take the injection, but the doctor said that taking the injection would speed up her recovery. Immediately after the injection, she fainted. The doctor asked her to lie down on the bed, when she regained consciousness, he noticed that she was not wearing proper clothes and realized that she had been raped.
The wife was afraid of being disgraced The husband said that after the incident, when the doctor blackmailed him, his wife even tried to commit suicide fearing disgrace. As soon as the neighbors came to know about the suicide, I returned to my home in India and lodged a complaint with the police.
Bengal ranks fourth in the country in crimes against women According to the NCRB report, according to the 2022 crime data, 34,738 cases of crimes against women were reported in West Bengal. West Bengal ranks fourth in crimes against women. Uttar Pradesh is at the top with 65 thousand 743 cases. This is followed by Maharashtra (45,331 cases) and Rajasthan (45,058 cases).
According to the NCRB report, the rate of crime against women (number of incidents per 1 lakh population) has increased from 64.5% in 2021 to 66% in 2022. Of these, a total of 48 thousand 755 cases of crime against women were reported in 19 metros during 2022, which is 12.3% more than in 2021 (43 thousand 414 cases).
