Government gives Dhanteras gift to 70+ seniors: From today, free treatment will be provided in government and private hospitals under Ayushman Yojana, 6 crore people will benefit

Now all people aged 70 years and above will get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start it today. Under this scheme, free treatment up to 5 lakh rupees will be provided every year.

There will be no conditions for free treatment in this scheme. No elderly person shall be excluded from the ambit of this scheme on the basis of income, pension, bank balance, land or chronic illness. About 6 crore people above 70 years of age in the country will benefit from this.

Currently more than 35 crore people are benefiting from this scheme

At present, more than 35 crore people are benefiting from Ayushman Yojana. After this announcement, their number will reach around 40 crores. This means that these people can go to a private hospital and get free treatment up to 5 lakh rupees. The cost of their treatment is borne by the government.

Chronic illness is also covered in this scheme. Pre and post hospitalization expenses for any illness are covered. Apart from this, the cost of all medical tests, operations and medicines are also included in it.

The Center launched this scheme in 2017 Ayushman Bharat is the world's largest insurance scheme, providing free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per year to the poorest 40 percent of the country. The central government launched this scheme in the year 2017 under the National Health Policy. However, many states including West Bengal are refusing to accept this scheme and are running their own schemes in the state.

Under this scheme, treatment can be done in selected government and private hospitals across the country. There is also a provision for payment of expenses before and after 10 days of admission under this scheme.

All diseases are covered in this scheme Chronic illness is also covered under Ayushman Yojana. Pre and post hospitalization expenses for any illness are covered. This covers transportation costs. All medical tests, operations, treatment etc. are included in this. So far more than 5.5 crore people have been treated under this scheme.
