Now all people of 70 years of age and above will get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start it today. Under this scheme, treatment up to Rs 5 lakh can be provided free of cost every year.
There will be no conditions for free treatment in this scheme. No elderly person will be excluded from the scope of this scheme on the basis of income, pension, bank balance, land or chronic diseases. About 6 crore people above 70 years of age in the country will benefit from this.
Currently more than 35 crore people are taking benefit of the scheme
Currently more than 35 crore people are taking advantage of Ayushman Yojana. After this announcement their number will reach around 40 crores. This means that these people can go to a private hospital and get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. The government pays for their treatment.
Chronic diseases are also covered in this scheme. Expenses before and after hospitalization for any illness are covered. Apart from this, the expenses of all medical tests, operations and medicines are also included in it.
The Center started the scheme in 2017 Ayushman Bharat is the world's largest insurance scheme, which provides free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh every year to the poorest 40 percent of the country's people. Under the National Health Policy, the Central Government started this scheme in the year 2017. However, many states including West Bengal are refusing to accept this scheme and are running their own schemes in the state.
Under this scheme, treatment can be provided in selected government and private hospitals across the country. There is also a provision for payment of expenses before and after 10 days of admission under this scheme.

Expenses on transport are covered in this. Things like all medical tests, operations, treatment etc. are included in this.
